Falling for You

I just love when Carri and I can work out some mutual crafting time, especially since our schedules are so hectic now. She is volunteering in her daughter's class, so she has been grading lots of papers and understands what I go through every day. I told her I would wake up early and have my stack (I even sent her a picture so she would feel bad for me.) done before she gets up since we are in different time zones. We were able to find some fall challenges with leaves, which was perfect since it is my favorite season.

This tree is very intricate, but the branches are perfect for autumn.

This is a Studio G stamp. I bought it on clearnace last year and I am very surprised how nicely it stamped.

So glad you stopped by again. I am setting a goal to craft everyday for one hour and do less school work while I am at home. Wish me luck!

 

There is a new challenge at Exploring Cricut today.

The Challenge:  Transportation 

 

Here is my Exploring Cricut project...

I think this old fashion bicycle is neat looking, but I am not sure how comfortable it was. It looks like you need a ladder to get on the seat.

I sure do miss my son when he is away at college and this sentiment is meant for him, but I surely do not want him to ride his bike home. It is a 2 hour car ride, so I can't imagine how long it would take on a bike (especially one like this).

 

I used the Tuesday Morning Sketch (challenge is already closed).

Back to School, Part II

Welcome Back Crafty Friends,

Thank you for stopping by yesterday to see my Back to School projects.

 Here is Day 2.

First, this is a picture of the my school. My class is on the top floor just above the horse. (You can see a little bit of the windows.) It has a great view of the tree and the students enjoy watching the squirrels chase one another.

For today's project, I used the outline of our school as inspiration. I found the perfect cut of a historic school on the Heritage Cricut cartridge. I cut out 23 schools (and shadows). I used Kraft paper and put it through the wave crimper, so it would match the banner.

 I made a banner for each card shaped just like yesterday's WELCOME sign. The banners were cut from the April Showers Cricut cartridge.

 I used an assembly line format to create these cards.

I made 21 cards so far (with two on hold) since our numbers are currently 19 - 20 students per class. There are 3 different sayings on the front...

The inside sentiment reads: Happy 1st Day of School (Pink by Design ~ School is Cool set).

A Boyds Bear Thanks

I hope your week is off to a wonderful start.  I have no plans until Thursday and Friday, so I am enjoying my quiet time. 

Here is another Thank You card I made for a student using the CPS sketch (see below). She gave me this Boyds Bear, which I will bring back to my class in the fall.

Hello...Who Is It?

After receiving Dorcas' birthday card in the mail, I decided I had to try a new fold just like the one she sent me. I really like the format and the layout is super easy.

Yeah!

I wanted to use my Heritage cartridge since I have only used it a few times, and then I remembered Momo had a challenge...Just Because. I thought the telephone would be perfect.

I used We R Memories Keepers designer paper ~ Madame Royale. I layered lots of coordinating pieces on the various folds. 

This is the front of the card. The telephone is cut from Heritage at 2". I layered two different pieces of ribbon and then added the three buttons.

The flaps open...

RING RING RING was cut from Plantin SchoolBook at 1/2".

Inside is another telephone cut from Heritage at 3" and the sentiment is a stamp my daughter picked out at Michaels.

Tomorrow is the BIG day! I will reveal the title of the Cricut cartridge (but not the embellishments ~ the icing on the cake remains a surprise). The winner will be announced on Thursday, September 23rd.

Be sure to visit again tomorrow. I can not wait to tell you what my husband got me. It is wrapped and already sitting on the counter and he said I had to wait until everyone is home from school before I can open them. I wonder if I can just unwrap one little corner and peek without him knowing...the suspense is just too much!

National Sewing Month

The observance of National Sewing Month began in 1982 with a proclamation from President Ronald Reagan declaring September as National Sewing Month “In recognition of the importance of home sewing to our Nation.”

I read the following in the Joann's flyer this morning...

"In the past, our mothers and grandmothers would sew out of necessity. Today, sewing has become more of a hobby and a way to express personal style." 

I decided to try adding a sewing feature to my card. I plan on practicing a few more times during this month. Once my daughter helped me set up her machine it wasn't very difficult. Of course, the lines are not exactly straight but it adds character.

I used the Heritage cartridge ( I really like the images on this cartridge) for the sewing machine which was cut at 2 inches. The sentiment was cut from the same cart at 1/2 inch.

 I think I saw another sewing machine image on the Country Life cartridge. If I can borrow a friend's, I would like to try and make another one. I know I can improve with more practice...lots more practice that is!

I am hoping you have been inspired to create something for National Sewing Month too.

Our 17th anniversary is in Novmeber and my husband wants a camera, so when I saw this image on the Heritage cartridge I thought it was perfect for him. I want to add one of our wedding pictures to the frame (once I get it duplicated for cropping).

Vroom...Vroom...Welcome Home

Paper Cutz Challenge #51: Wheels

My 12 year old daughter is on vacation in Tennessee with a good friend and her family and she will return Sunday after being away for 8 days. I decided to make her a Welcome Home card. She will like this because her luggage in the back of the truck is zebra print which is what she wants when she goes away to college ~ she is definitely planning for the future : )

I cut the truck from the Heritage cartridge and used the Cuttlebug to add embossing circles. The luggage and road sign are from Going Places.

 If I can find a tiny picture of my daughter before she gets home Sunday night, I may add it to the window.
