Happy New Year, Mrs. Carson's Class

Happy New Year's Eve!

Hope everyone is enjoying their day. Between the year coming to an end and Winter Break being almost over...I am thinking where has the time gone! I decided to make a surprise for my students when they return to school on Tuesday. It will be a great way to ring in the second semester...18 more weeks of school then they will be middle schoolers.

I kept the treat bags simple because my students will have these opened and devoured in less than 2 minutes. Some of my girls will save the package, but many of the boys will have the topper in the trash by the end of the day. Of course, I will have to give them the spiel about how long it took to create and how much it would mean if they took it home to show their parents. I will be sure to add a picture to our class webpage too just in case.

I used the blissful bell from Pretty Paper, Pretty Ribbons and knew I wanted it to be gold and silver when I was planning. Then I found this ribbon at Walmart for 50 cents a roll.  I also bought the Hershey Kisses the day after Christmas for 50% off and only used the silver wrappers. Perfect...I could tie all the colors together now!

The sentiment is computer generated (I need to get some New Year stamps. I think I saw Jaded Blossom might actually have a set.), and the scallop circle was cut on my Cameo. The topper is a black square folded in half with a rectangle piece of DCWV pattern paper. I rounded the corners with a Hobby Lobby punch.

I hope my class enjoys the start of 2016!

Something New Challenge at DoubleClick Skittles

Hello Everyone,

Hard to believe that 2015 is almost over...time sure did fly by this year! So much has happened throughout the year, but I think I am ready for 2016! Before we say good-bye...It's time for the DoubleClick Skittles Challenge.

This Week's Challenge...
Something New

Here is my Design Team project...
I have been thinking about my style of card making and I have decided I want to try to add more variety...something new I hope to accomplish in 2016.

I used Sketch 392 from Sketch Saturday

These Scribble Roses by My Favorite Things are elegant and fun. I used my Cuttlebug to cut these versatile dies.

I used my new My Favorite Things stamp set ~ Whimsical Wishes. The pattern paper is from My Mind's Eye ~ Now and Then stack.

Yellow Skittles
Other Challenges:

Now, I hope you will  join us this week for the "Something New" challenge at DoubleClick Skittles. Be sure to check out the other projects by the Design Team.

Thank You for Something New

Hello Everyone,

It sure is a wonderful Wednesday since Christmas is only two days away (I have a few last minute errands today and then I am definitely ready) and it's time for a new DoubleClick Skittles Challenge.

This Week's Challenge...
Something New

Here is my Design Team project...
I made thank you cards for my class because of all the new stuff they got me for gifts. Boy, was I lucky...a necklace, a couple gift certificates, a teacher mug, a Christmas ornament, a candle, a Tervis cup,  and a few homemade gifts (kids that love to craft and make gifts...hmmm...perfect for being in my class).

I used Tim Holtz distress inks (barn door and mowed lawn) to make each of the backgrounds. That was fun! I love how different each one is ...just like my students!

The foal point is a stamped sentiment by My Craft Spot and it is adhered to a Lacey Circle Spellbinders. Frosty Kisses skittles (from the newest skittles release) in the corners and a green sparkly bow (Did you see my sparkle cards from yesterday? Check them out for more sparkle!)

I made eleven, but I may need to make a few more for co-workers.
Now, I hope you will  join us this week for the "Something New" challenge at DoubleClick Skittles. Be sure to check out the other projects by the Design Team.

Thanks for stopping by!

Let's Sparkle

Hello Everyone and Happy Tuesday,

Did a little shopping this morning while the hubby and daughter went to see Star Wars in 3D at the IMAX theater. Yes, I am one of the few who has no desire to see the movie, but hubby did say it was good. We went to lunch at the Olive Garden afterwards (so scrumptious since I haven't eaten bread in 3 weeks...I cheated today and had a couple breadsticks with my soup and salad) and then I came home to make these two cards. I wish the lighting was better, but it sure is gloomy outside.

I used the Meant to Sparkle stamp set by My Favorite Things as the focal point on both square cards (5 1/2 x 5 1/2).

First, I created the background using a MFT diagonal bars stencil.

Then I used silver embossing powder for the sentiment and added a few scattered sequins.

For the second card I used the same stamp set on a MFT zigzag stitched oval, but with gold embossing powder.

I just bought this package of foil bows at Hobby Lobby (50% off) when I went shopping today. Great colors and fun patterns.
Challenges:

Hoping to make another project tonight...maybe my bestie, crafty friend will be available. Where are you Carri?!?!? Let's get crafty!

Happy Holidays

Hello Everyone!

Hope your week is off to a great start...mine is so far. I had a few "to do" items on my list and actually completed a couple of them, so I am definitely feeling accomplished. Tomorrow I will need to tackle a few more tasks, but until then...I have a card I want to share that I just finished this evening.

This is the last Sweet Sunday Sketch...so sad! I really enjoyed seeing the Design Team projects each week. I always found lots of inspiration.

I used a new Hampton Arts Christmas tree die and stamp set that I got from Michaels this past weekend (70% off Christmas supplies). The pattern paper is by Recollections ~ Cozy Lodge stack. I added Stickles to a few of the stamped dots and a polka dot red bow for the tree topper.
Other Challenges:

Enjoy the holiday season!

Merry Little Christmas Pencil Toppers

Happy Saturday Everyone,

I sure am enjoying my first day off  (I get up early) even though a cold front came through yesterday. The cold weather is only suppose to last a couple days and then back to the 80's. Once it warms up I plan on getting outside to do some bike riding. Trying to lose a few pounds...not sure why I decided to during the holiday season, but I am motivated!

Today I am sharing a project I made for my students...pencil toppers (the bucket was left over from last year). A few of my students made me extremely happy when they told me they saved the pumpkin topper from Halloween. : )

I used my Cameo to cut a few different files (My Scrap Chick ~ scallops/circles and Miss Kate Cuttables ~ holly leaves/berries. The stamped sentiment is by Momenta.

I made a different one for my student that celebrates Hanukkah. This stamped sentiment is by Jaded Blossom ~ Winter Wishes set.
Happy Holidays!

Pretty Penguins at Pause Dream Enjoy

Hello Everyone,
The day has finally arrived..the last day of school before Winter Break! Two weeks of family, crafting, day trips to the Orlando parks, and definitely some relaxing. Hubby hasn't said anything about home improvement projects yet, so I am not going to ask!  : )

Today also begins a new Pause Dream Enjoy Linky Party.

This Week's Challenge...
Always Anything Goes

Here is my Design Team project...
I made a pair of pretty penguins for a friend, so she could give them to her daughter's teachers. The bags are from the Dollar Tree , but the penguin face is from My Scrap Chick. I thought twins would be festive.

I cut the tags with my Cricut using the Plantin Schoolbook cartridge. They were cut at 1 1/2.

The twine is Maya Red from The Twinery.
Hope you will join us at Pause Dream Enjoy Linky Party this week for our "Always Anything Goeschallenge. The other design team members have a variety of projects, so be sure to check them out today!

Here is my Design Team project...
I have a small stash of Bath and Body Works that I bought when they were on sale for 75% off.  They sure do make great gifts!

Both stamped sentiments from the Jaded Blossom Winter Wishes stamp set.
