Happy New Year, Mrs. Carson's Class

Happy New Year's Eve!

Hope everyone is enjoying their day. Between the year coming to an end and Winter Break being almost over...I am thinking where has the time gone! I decided to make a surprise for my students when they return to school on Tuesday. It will be a great way to ring in the second semester...18 more weeks of school then they will be middle schoolers.

I kept the treat bags simple because my students will have these opened and devoured in less than 2 minutes. Some of my girls will save the package, but many of the boys will have the topper in the trash by the end of the day. Of course, I will have to give them the spiel about how long it took to create and how much it would mean if they took it home to show their parents. I will be sure to add a picture to our class webpage too just in case.

I used the blissful bell from Pretty Paper, Pretty Ribbons and knew I wanted it to be gold and silver when I was planning. Then I found this ribbon at Walmart for 50 cents a roll.  I also bought the Hershey Kisses the day after Christmas for 50% off and only used the silver wrappers. Perfect...I could tie all the colors together now!

The sentiment is computer generated (I need to get some New Year stamps. I think I saw Jaded Blossom might actually have a set.), and the scallop circle was cut on my Cameo. The topper is a black square folded in half with a rectangle piece of DCWV pattern paper. I rounded the corners with a Hobby Lobby punch.

I hope my class enjoys the start of 2016!

Let Freedom Ring at Little Scrap Pieces and 3 Year Blogoversary Winners

Hello Crafty Friends,

Sorry to be running a little late. It has been a busy week! I had AIMS Math training two days, my son's vehicle was in the shop, my daughter had Driver's Ed and her road test, and I am trying to walk 3 miles everyday. Next week should be a calm week where I will have more time to craft. Yeah...looking forward to that!

Today brings a new challenge at Little Scrap Pieces.

The Challenge...Let Freedom Ring
Do you ever go looking for paper and can not find what you are looking for? I wanted a classic patriotic paper and didn't like anything I had; therefore, I had to purchase some. I was looking for an Americana theme, but it was difficult to find a pad. I ended up buying individual sheets.

Here is my Design Team project...
I cut two of the bells and adhered them in the center. I added cream ribbon to tie them together at the top.
I attached the bells with an action wobble, so they would appear to be ringing.
Brrring! Brrrring!
Materials:
Paper Studio paper (Hobby Lobby)
red, blue, and cream card stock
Sweater Weather Cricut cartridge
Independence Day Cricut cartridge
cream ribbon
red and blue pearls
action wobble

Other Challenges:

Now for the announcement of the winners from my 3 Year Blogoversary...

It's a White Wedding with a Billy Idol link

Hello Again Crafty Friends,
(This is my second post for today...please be sure to scroll down for more projects and upcoming news! I don't want you to miss anything.)

Today brings a new challenge at Little Scrap Pieces.
The Challenge...White Wedding
First, I just can't stop singing White Wedding by Billy Idol! Listen here for an 80's flashback. Now onto something a little more romantic...Most traditional weddings are white, but now-a-days brides are turning to alternative colors. When I Googled I saw cream, pink, blue, and purple dresses. Mine...Mermaid style in white.

Here is my Design Team project...
I was so excited to make these wedding cards because a very dear friend's daughter will be getting married soon. We started teaching together (13 years ago) and we have learned from each other since. Yes...I know we were there to teach the students, but teachers can still learn something new too. : )
This first card is truly all white...layers, bells, and pearls.
This second card is cream and sage green. Those are the colors of Amanda's upcoming wedding.
Remember...you can click on each image to enlarge.
Materials:
white, cream, and green card stock
Sweethearts Cricut cartridge ~ bells (p. 56) cut at 2 3/4"
Spellbinders ~ Labels 8 and Floral Ovals
white (Want to Scrap) and green pearls

Hope you will join us at Little Scrap Pieces for our "White Wedding" challenge. Be sure to come back tomorrow for the 100 Acre Woods and ME4Y Hops. A wide variety of projects with great prizes!
