Update: Cards, Craft Show and Sister

Good Morning to all my Crafty Friends!
I can already hear the birds chirping outside on this wonderful Sunday. I know it is going to be a magnificent day.

First, I have been very busy this past week although I have not been on the computer much. I am going to visit and see what everyone has been doing later today. I am looking forward to all the great projects.

I have made some new cards. These are just a few.

Here are the cards before the craft show. I found individual 5X7 plastic bags for each card to keep them protected.
The 1st Annual Car and Craft Show. My first time too at a craft fair. I talked to a lot of great people.
*Note: The bags were not a good idea for an outside show. I had to remove them because of the heat. They will definitely work for inside shows and night ones.
These are my daughter's earrings she brought to the show. She sure does like to dabble in lots of crafts too!
Lastly, I visited my sister last night at the hospital. It has been almost a week since the accident. She looks better and is going to be sent home (insurance would not pay for the rehab facility) today (unless something major changes). She will not be able to walk for 3 months, so she is going to need LOTS of help. I plan on going over to her house afterschool everyday as needed to help her out.

Thank you for all the thoughts and prayers. She has a long road to recovery, but I know she can do it!

Hope have a wonderful day!

Cards for My Sister

Good Morning
This is just a quick note to make a small request.

If anyone would love to make a card for my sister I would appreciate it. She was in a terrible car accident Monday night on her way home from work and is very lucky to be alive. She is in terrible pain from the force of the crash (head-on into a palm tree after someone hit her) and she will not be able to walk for 3 to 6 months since she broke both her feet. She had surgery Tuesday afternoon and pins had to be place in both feet since the damage is so severe. She is currently in Shands hospital and may have to go to a rehab facility for full-time care. She has a husband and three girls who are missing her at home very much.

 Her name is Erica Marshall.

My address is:
2359 SE 50th Ter.
Ocala, FL 34480

I would appreciate it and I know it would cheer her up!
Thanks!

Yeah, I Did It! But I Also Have a Craft Show Question...I Need Input!

One of my goals this week was to make some of those adorable pins that I have seen on Carri's and Sheryl's site. I finally made a couple today. Once I figured out which straight pins to use, choosing the colors to coordinate with the paper was easy. Carri suggested using Glossy Accent. Since I didn't have any I used my daughter's Mod Podge glue which worked great.

I had to make two Bridal Shower cards for the school secretary. Here is what I created.
My Mind's Eye paper ~ the spider's web
Sweethearts cartridge ~ lingerie p. 69 ~ 3"
Wild Card cartridge ~ sentiment p.79
Sizzix embossing folder
tan ribbon
straight pin and beads
 Challenge:

heidi grace designs paper ~ Floral with Definitions
black ribbon
stick pins and beads
burgundy gems
I head back to school tomorrow, but plan on working on cards each evening when I get home. There is a craft show on Saturday that I may be able to participate in. I am going to talk to the contact person tomorrow. The fee is either $20 or $25. The space is 10' X 10', but you have to supply your own table.

Does anyone know if this is reasonable? How many cards would be ideal to bring? Should they be separated by theme? How much would you charge? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I went to the flea market this morning and found some 5" x 7" plastic bags to protect the cards. The fee was very reasonable...$1.50 for 50 bags with no S/H. When I went on-line last night I found some for $5, but the S/H was over $10. THAT'S CRAZY!
I sure do like how they are enclosed.

Georgiana

Any More Request? Almost Done!

Before school closed for the week, I had a few co-workers ask me to create a couple birthday cards, 2 Bridal shower cards, and some Easter cards. I thought this week would be an ideal time to get them started. Here are a few that I worked on last night and this morning. I had to leave space on the cover since many of the cards will be personalized. I did not want to add any names until I go back to school on Monday and each person picks their favorites. Once they select the ones they want for their grandbabies I can add a few embellishments if needed.

I have a couple more that I need to finish, but they are taking a little longer since they are a different fold. Click here if you are curious to know which type I am making.
I am going to enter this card into a couple of challenges:

Here are the supplies I used:
Create a Critter chick ~ 3"
We R Memories Keepers paper pad ~ Madame Royale
purple ribbon and gems

Create a Critter (standing rabbit), Simply Charmed (chick), Give a Hoot (sitting bunny), and Hello Kitty Cricut cartridges
various papers, ribbons, brads, florals, and wiggly eyes
 Create a Critter rabbit~ 3"
cardstock ~ black, white, and pink
Paper Studio ribbon
pink gems

I went to Target (after reading that they had a bunch of scrapbooking goodies on clearance) and the three craft stores this morning in between card making. My husband likes Gander Mountain, so he drops me off and we both get to visit the stores we like. I found some great deals! My son was wonderful because he said, "It's on sale, just get it." Who could argue?!?!
 Target
 Michaels
Joanns

I am trying to use my stash and scraps, but who can pass up a good deal? Target's goodies were 50 - 75% off. Those Color Box pads were regularly priced $6.99 but they were on clearance for $1.49. The Cuttlebug embossing folder was regularly priced $9.99, but it was on clearance for $3.99. My daughter picked out those buttons from Joanns. I LOVE how they coordinate.

Only one more day left of Spring Break. Then it's back to school until June. I need to make 2 Bridal shower cards on Sunday and I am going to try and use those awesome stick pins that Carri has been using. I found some pins laying around the house and Kelsey has tons of beads. I am hoping I do not stab myself!

If you get a chance, please visit my daughter at One Creative Teen. She just posted two great projects. She also started working on changing her background. We still need to adjust the header, but it definitely reflects her personality.

Enjoy the rest of your night.
Until tomorrow,
Georgiana

Background Change

I am working on changing my background and header. I shortened my title too since I use a variety of resources to create my projects.
I would love some input!

What do you like to see on pages?
What do you NOT want to view?
Please give suggestions!

Thanks,
Georgiana

Happy (Early) Mother's Day

Wow! I cannot believe it is already Thursday night. Where did the time go this week? I have had the opportunity to make a few cards and I still have a list I want to work before Sunday night. I think I am going to be busy in between the yard work and Spring cleaning that needs to be done.

I sure do like the green color in this paper, but wanted to pull the pink and purple out too.
I used the Accent cartridge to cut the scallops and Give a Hoot for the butterflies. I added pink and purple craft thread to attach the butterfly charm.
The butterfly was cut twice to give it a 3-D effect.
Sentiment inside the card was cut from Wrap It Up.

Hoping you are having a great night,

A Birthday Card and a Winner

As I posted earlier today I am back again to announce the winner from Jen's Birthday Hop. Today is actually her birthday, so if you haven't had a chance to say "Happy Birthday" please be sure to head over there next.

Before I announce the winner I wanted to share another card I just finished working on. It is for a school clerk who happens to be a big UF Gator fan. She loves to shop too, so I thought what better way to celebrate her birthday than with her favorites.

I used the Birthday Bash cartridge for the image of the gift bag and inside sentiment, Wild Card for the front sentiment, and a corner punch. The paper is Making Memories.
Inside reads: Happy Birthday

Now on to the winner of the Birthday Hop.

Jenny from Paper-Crafting Crazy Me said...
Cute! Love the colors and the flower 'stacking' :) I honestly have never received a 'bad' gift...they might be cheesy but I know they come from love so we just laugh about it, forever!

I will e-mail you this evening and wait to hear a response with your mailing address. I will then send out a surprise birthday present.

I would like to say "Thank You" to everyone. I appreciate your kind words, continual support, suggestions, and e-mails. Once I reach 500 followers (only 11 more) I plan on doing a giveaway. More information will be posted before Spring Break ends.

Hoping you have a great night.
Until next time,
Georgiana

Hoping to Get Lucky

Since this week is St. Patrick's Day and Spring Break I do not have to worry about getting pinched by any of the students if I forget to wear green. Of course, I would never forget! I am actually hoping to get lucky this week and win a challenge or two.

I created this card this morning and wanted to keep it simple. My daughter had some Recollection stickers in her stash that I knew she was not going to use, so I decided to claim them. : ) I created the two squares and aligned them with the criss cross pattern on the decorative paper. They are adhered with foam squares to add a little dimension. I then added gold embroidery floss around the corners to keep the layout symmetrical.
The same colors flow to the inside along with another shamrock sticker in the lower left corner.

I hope you get lucky this week too!

Butterflies Leave a Trail of Flowers

Welcome to a tremendously wonderful Tuesday. It is beautiful outside and the forecast for today is a sunny 80 degrees. Who could ask for more?!?!

Last night I created two more cards that match my mood...Springy.
I just LOVE butterflies. I have many native plants in my backyard that attract various types of butterflies. I find the entire process from finding the right type of plants to counting the number of eggs to watching the new butterflies flutter by to be absolutely amazing.
Challenges for the first card:
Challenges for the second card:
This card could be turned since the sentiment has not been added yet.
Materials:
Provo Craft's Cricut paper ~ Doodlecharms
hot pink: cardstock, ribbon, buttons, and gems
neon green: cardstock, buttons, and brad
Recollections glitter butterflies and flowers
florals
Martha Stewart edge punch

In between crafting I will be working in the yard to freshen up the plants, so the butterflies will continue to visit. I am looking forward to the return of the Monarchs, Viceroys, Swallowtails, and Sulfurs.

Here is a picture of Florida's State Butterfly ~ Zebra Longwing

I will be posting the winner  for Jen's Birthday Hop a little later today. I will also send an e-mail directly to the winner.

Pink & Glitter at Paper Playtime

Good Morning!

Today is a marvelous day. I hear the birds chirping,  the weather is going to be beautiful, and I have nothing planned but R & R (which means more crafting time). Could you ask for anything more?

This week at Paper Playtime, Janis gave the Royal Queens an opportunity to choose their project as long as it fit one of the three challenges.
Here are your challenge choices:

Challenge Choice #1:
Use GREEN and PURPLE as your MAIN colors (in honor of Mardis Gras)

Challenge Choice #2:
Use Pink & Glitter

Challenge Choice #3:
Use a Critter & a Rhyme (in honor of Dr. Suess' birthday)

I decided to to use pink & glitter to make another Hello Kitty card. I told you I was going to make another. She is just too cute and this is perfect for Easter.
One of my goals this week is to try and use punches more. I used a Martha Stewart floral punch and layered three colors. I think edge punches add a little extra flair, so I plan on practicing some more. I would love any tips or suggestions you have.

Good luck with the challenge this week. You have three choices and can enter each one within the two weeks. The prizes are great too!

Spring Brings Flowers and Easter

I would like to say "THANK YOU" to everyone that stopped by for Jen's Birthday Hop this weekend. The stories about the worst presents were quite interesting and entertaining to read. I truly do understand! The first year my husband and I were married, he mentioned wanting a fire extinquisher for his truck. Well, I am guilty of buying it for him for Christmas. He shouldn't have said he wanted one if he didn't really mean it. : )

I will announce the winner of the birthday prize on Tuesday.

Here is one of my newest cards.
  • I used DCWV grass paper. I think it is a neat background for the rabbit.
  • I adhered dainty little yellow flowers that were cut from an edge punch to add a "pop" of color. In the center of each flower is a green gem.
  • The bunny which was cut from Give a Hoot was embossed with the swirl Cuttlebug folder.
  • Inside the card ~ A Lovely Easter to You ~ cut from the Wild Card cartridge
Challenges:

Looking forward to a great week with lots of time to craft. I plan on working with punches since I do not use them very often, nor do I think I am using them effectively. I have seen so many creative ways to incorporate them. I also want to make an easel card since I never have. So much I want to do!

Stay Creative,
Georgiana

Jen's Birthday Blog Hop

It's the Purple Scrapbooker's Day...that is Jen's day for a fabulous blog hop with wonderful projects to help celebrate her birthday. If you came from Star's Paper Passion you are doing a great job hopping along. If you just happened to visit today thank you for coming back, but why not join in and enjoy the crafts and goodies.
I chose Jen's favorite color (purple) and my favorite color (brown) to create a birthday card.
Here are the supplies I started with.
I layered the My Mind's Eye paper and then added the floral.
This is a close-up of the floral. I pieced together the brown, purples, and blue florals and secured with a small brown brad.

The sentiment was cut from the Wild Card cartridge at 6 1/2". Small brown brads coordinate with the floral and the foam pieces add dimension.
Happy Birthday was also cut from the Wild Card cartridge (6").
Happy Birthday Jen!

What is a blog hop without goodies? Since this is a birthday celebration, the present (prize) will be a surprise. Of course, it will be crafty related (paper, ribbon, buttons, gems, etc). Here is a little twist...usually everyone asks what your favorite/best gift was, but for today I want to know the worst birthday present you ever received. Not too long ago I posted about the "tool" my husband gave me. It was for that time I ended up in a drain field and needed to escape from my Jeep. Hmmm...still hoping that doesn't ever happen and I never need to use the Houdini tool.

Be sure to leave a way for me to contact you. You may leave your blog and/or e-mail address. Looking forward to hearing your stories.
Be sure to head over to Tracy at Craft Junkie Too for another fabulous project.

Here is the line-up:

Hello Kitty Says Happy Birthday

Hello Again My Crafty Friends!
This is my second post for this evening. Yeah! Be sure to scroll down to see a couple of my Easter cards. My 16 year old son said he likes the chick (That is the bird not a girl.) more than the bunny because of all the bright colors. What do you think?

I just finished my first Hello Kitty card. It is for a 5 year old who loves everything girlie. I knew I wanted to use pink paper, but wasn't quite sure about the top layer. As I was going thru my scrap box I found this paper from Nana's Nursery that matched perfectly. Then I was fortunate to be able to coordinate the green ribbon too.
I sure do like this cartridge. I can tell I am going to have to make another card using some of these cuts. If I remember correctly, I saw Hello Kitty with a bunny which will be perfect for another Easter card. : )

Only a couple more cards that need a final touch. I can't wait until I can finish them. What are you currently working on? Do you work only on one project at a time? How much time do you typically spend crafting each day/week?

Thanks for visiting and I will be stopping by to visit you this weekend. Spring Break officially starts at 3pm on Friday! Yeah!

Hippity Hop with a Peep

Hello Crafty Friends,

The past two days have been great since I made time to create a few cards. Last night I actually worked on getting the background papers cut and layered for about 5 different cards. I had a few ideas brewing, so this evening I started piecing them together. I created two Easter cards using various cartridges which I am posting now. I also have a couple others that need a few final touches then they will be ready for display.
This bunny was cut from Give a Hoot.
The chunky chick was cut from Simply Charmed.
All the words are from Animal Kingdom ~ cut at 3/4".

Looking forward to more crafting time!

Feeling Lucky?

I was asked by a fellow teacher to create a St. Patrick's Day birthday card. Here are two that I made so far for her to choose from. I may try the leprechaun too (pending time) from Simply Charmed since I have seen so many cute ones this past week.

I used the same cut, but changed the background paper and embellishments. Once she picks I will add the sentiment inside.
Materials I used:
Simply Charmed cartridge (p. 33) ~ pot of gold
Create a Critter cartridge (p. 58  ) ~ Lucky
DCWV and Paper Studio patterned paper
dark green, black, gold, and white cardstock
Holiday Inspiration gold and green ribbon
gold gems

Challenges:

Hope you get lucky this week.
Georgiana

What a week it has been!

I haven't crafted very much this past week (which is very depressing) as a bit of an experiment. My students have not been doing all that great on their tests, so I thought if I spent more time focused just on school work it would rub off on them. Well...after two different tests this past week and they still didn't do well...I figured I am back to crafting! I think they are ready for Spring Break which is next week. I know I am looking forward to the time off.  I bet they will feel refreshed once we return and they will do well again.

I did work on one card earlier in the week, but need to finish the sentiment. Here it is so far.

Materials I used:
The patterned paper is SEI ~ Dill Blossom
Kraft paper for base
green brads
orange and tan florals
tan ribbon

I plan on crafting today since I went to a Scrapbook Party yesterday (Wow, I met some really GREAT people who LOVE to craft too!) and then to the craft stores. I did find a great deal on decorative buttons at Joanns for 25 cents and Michaels had their Dollar section 50% off.

My daughter, One Creative Teen, has two projects she is currently working on for her bedroom; therefore, I had to purchase the supplies she wanted. Who knew styrofoam balls and stick pins were so expensive?!?! We will be posting a little later today, so I hope you will check them out.

Stay Creative,
Georgiana
