More Die-Cut Negatives with Watercolors, Pt 2

Hello Everyone!

Happy Monday! It is hard to believe it is the end of June and July will be upon us in just a couple days. Although it is raining here, it has been a marvelous day. My daughter and I ran a few errands this morning and one stop was Hobby Lobby so I could us a gift card I received at the end of the school year. I chose a few Spare Parts embellishments on sale for 50% off and I let my daughter pick out a package of my new favorite...Ranger Distress Inks mini pads. : ) I also found a small, but fun storage case to hold them (see below). 

Today's project is a continuation from yesterday...die-cut negatives with watercolors. I wanted to have a couple thank you cards in my stash and I used two other color inks.

 First, I used the Wild Card Cricut cartridge to cut out Thanks. Then I used dusty concord and spiced marmalade inks to create the watercolor backgrounds/splatter.

 

I found a piece of dark purple card stock in my scrap box to use for the back layer. Butterflies and sequins were added for a bit of pizzazz.

When we returned home we decided we better look to see what colors I have and what colors I still need...I don't want any more duplicates if it can be avoided. I found this color chart on-line and printed a copy for my binder. Easy to check off and search for future colors. I already know I want mowed lawn, salty ocean, festive berries, and a few others!

Here is the Tim Holtz storage container I bought. It holds 12 mini pads, and I only have 8 so far (I also have 8 large pads). I did see another package I wanted, so it will be full soon! How do you store your ink pads? How many do you have?

January's "Anything Goes" Challenge at 3 Girl JAM

Anything Goes with Ribbon

 Here is my Design Team project...

A pair of New Year's cards to celebrate 2015. 

The 3 1/2" card base was cut from Campin' Critters (sign feature, p. 26) and then the layers were cut smaller (3 1/4" and 3").

I used the Gold Crown crinkle ribbon from the Royal Bundle. The pennant was cut from the Wild Card Cricut cartridge (p.79) at 3" and the stamp is from the Jaded Blossom Miscellaneous Fun set. The inside says "Happy New Year" which was cut from Wild Card (p. 78) at 5 1/4".

I made another card slightly smaller and thought it would be perfect for a birthday.

It's a Girl

Hello Crafty Friends and Cricut Users,

Today is my Exploring Cricut Design Team day. I created this pretty in pink baby card for a friend (my Pampered Chef party buddy*) who is attending a baby shower today. Her very dear friend is due in less than 6 weeks and she looks so good (I saw her at training the other day.). Wishing her the best of luck!

The pearls and lace add that sweet, delicate touch that a new baby girl deserves.

Using a Sketch ~ "Just Because"

Happy Tuesday!

Today brings another challenge at Die Cuttin' Divas and what better way to celebrate than with a new project.

Our new challenge this week is... a Sketch.

Here is my card and the sketch is posted just below. 

I love sketches because you always have a variety of projects even though you start with the same layout. The colors are unique to each crafters personality, the embellishments added reflect the individual's flair, and then you have the rotation of the given sketch. We all start with the same featured sketch, BUT our final product is a masterpiece.

It Sure Doesn't Feel Like Winter. It Must Be the Christmas In July Blog Hop, Day 3

Welcome back for Day 3 of the Christmas in July Hop hosted by Lisa of Scrapping with Lisa handmade with love. If you came from April of Curls and Grins, then you are in the right spot.

Here is today's project:

I made this shaker card, which is a first for me. I bought the plastic window frames a few months ago and I haven't used them until now. Directions didn't even come with the package, so I have created my card from scratch.

I wanted to keep the cuts very simple and focus on enclosing the materials in the shaker window without the glitter escaping. 

I have figured it out! Now I can share with you!

I will do a pictorial later this week with step-by-step directions.  

I used Wild Card cartridge and cut the "stitched" card base at 4 3/4". The angel was cut at 1 1/4" and the stars were cut at 1 1/2". Both cuts were from Joys of the Season.

 Can you see the gold glitter inside the window?

 I cut a liner to help seal the shaker window.

A Challenge? No...Just a Birthday!

Paper Cutz Challenge #52: Nephew's Birthday Card

What is the first design that pops into your mind when you hear red, white, blue, black, and yellow? Well, for me it was a birthday card since the nephew's birthday is this upcoming week (He is turning 20, so I wanted to make sure the card was mature but fun)and we had to mail a gift card today. First, I went thru the stacks of paper and then remembered the Wild Card cartridge had the perfect present card.

I cut the yellow card at 8 3/4". I used Filigree Smudge by The Paper Company which is black and white. The bow is red and I did not glue the top portion so it has a 3-D effect. I added blue swirly ribbon (cut from Wild Card) and blue gems.

On the inside of the card, it says "for you" which was cut in red cardstock using the Wild Card cartridge also.

Never a Dull Moment in "The Land of Scrapbooking"

Today was supposed to be an extremely exciting day...the hubby was taking me craft shopping in Orlando (about 80 - 90 minutes from where we live). I went on-line yesterday and printed out 5 different stores and even planned a route in Google Map for directions. We left early this morning and programmed Garmin to set us on course. I didn't have a list of specific items (except maybe for some glitter mist), I just wanted to find some good deals or something different. Well...out of the 5 places...we made it to...one, yes just one! The first store no longer existed, the second store (Scrappy Boutique) was nice, we could not get to the third one (Piktails) because of an accident closing the road, the next one was a .com store (I guess), and the last one (Scrap Shak) took us into a residential neighborhood. We ended up at the usual stores: Joann, Michaels, TJMaxx, and Marshalls where I actually found some deals. The best deal of the day was finding Cuttlebug folders on clearance for $1.49 each. Yeah!

Oh, and on the way home, we stopped to get gas about 5 minutes from the house. Guess what? The battery died! What a day! Auto Club had to come give the battery a jump. Too bad I didn't have the camera to take pictures of our adventure.

After finally getting home, I was able to finish this card that I started last night. It has lots of ribbon, flowers, and little tweets (Wild Card p. 47).

I created a gatefold card (It has two flaps). What I like about this card is the front cover. The pieces (Nana's Nursery - Baby Girl) are cut into triangles and layered. The ribbon is used to tie the card closed. The pink and orange flowers are used as a centerpiece with a pink flower brad adding a little shine. The inside flap is stamped with "Happy Everything". I bought this stamp today during my last stop and thought it was perfect.

When you open both flaps you have some more little tweets and a place to write a note to that special little girl. Now it is time to enter it into the "Girly Affair" Challenge at Made by Momo.

It looks like it turned out to be a great day!

It's Still Christmas in July

I was going to create another mobile card and hang a Christmas tree in the round window, but I came up with something else. I used the Wild Card cartridge (p. 69) for the base card and the round liner (p. 52). I used stripes and polka dot paper with a solid green for the tree (Potpourri cartridge p.51). The red polka dot ribbon compliments the color theme. The small presents were cut from Celebrations (p. 114).

Winter Mobile

Here is another card!

This is a mobile which is extremely easy to make and very versatile. I was going to work on a Christmas in July or favorite holiday challenge, but got distracted and created this card. I love the snowflakes (p. 50) on the Potpourri cartridge. If you wanted to change your mobile piece you could hang presents, birds, hearts, or almost anything else depending on your mood or the season.

I used the Wild Card cartridge (stitched on p. 35) for the frame, but you could create any shape for the "window" by using a craft knife. I hung the snowflake with white thread. I pierced a hole with a sewing needle to keep it small and framed the inside to cover the glued thread.

Create a yummy treat shape card (optional) or project *As always, there does need to be a Cricut cut somewhere on your project, it does not have to be the item listed in the theme, though the theme does need to be incorperated as well.

I created the #1 Teacher shape card first then realized I needed a cool yummy treat, so I added the second card. I used the same shape (round card from the Wild Card cartridge p. 48) but added the small ice cream cone (p. 107) from Doodlecharm. The paper is from Nana's Nursery ~ Baby Girl by DCWV. The sentiment was cut from Wild Card (p. 57).
