Blessings and Wishes to All

Hello Crafty Friends,

Thank you for stopping by again! I appreciate you taking time from your busy holiday weekend and leaving some crafty love. I have been busy making projects and sharing since I can't do any more shopping...we spent too much money Thursday night and Friday on all the fabulous deals. I even started wrapping some of the presents this afternoon, so the kids wouldn't see what we got them.

Now I am working on three different types of treat bags for my students and co-workers. Once my daughter sees them she may even want some for her friends and teachers. Those will be shared later!

Here are two cards I finished earlier today.
I used Joys of the Season Cricut cartridge for the angel, which was cut at 1 3/4" from p. 53.

I added gold glitter glue to the angel's wings and scattered gold sequins on the starry background.

Same Sketch, but Different Colors
I also used the same cartridge, Joys of the Season, for the rocking horse (p. 57), which was cut at 1 1/2". White sequins were randomly scattered in the background and adhered in bottom right corner.

I love the bunched ribbon technique. I think it adds a slightly different look. If you want to see a pictorial, you can click here. Hope you will try!

I used this week's Tuesday Morning Sketches for both of these cards.
Other Materials:
pattern paper is from scrap box
dark brown, kraft, cream, and white card stock
crinkle ribbon
burgundy and blue button
gold embroidery floss
blue craft thread
gold glitter glue
My Craft Spot Stamps ~ Mistletoe set
brown and copper ink

Tis the Season

Hello Crafty Friends,

Once again the weekend flew right by, but at least it was productive. I completed a few projects and some are still in the works. This week we only have two days of class then a five day weekend for the Thanksgiving holiday. Yippee!

Here is one of the cards I made...
I used last week's Sweet Sunday sketch from The Sweetest Thing.
Joys of the Season Cricut cartridge for the 2 1/2" poinsettia
This stamp belongs to the Whimsical Designs ~ Snow Much Fun stamp set.
Other Materials:
Heirloom Christmas paper by DCWV
gold glitter glue
Tim Holtz Peeled Paint distress ink
Plantin Schoolbook Cricut cartridge ~ circle cut at 3"

Challenges:

Look what else I started...
I still need to make the toppers, but I already have an idea of what I would like to cut.
I found a free download from Amanda's Parties to Go on Pinterest for the bottom of my kisses. Click here for link. I bought a 3/4" punch just for these, BUT I do not like how it cuts. What type of small punch do you recommend? I am going to invest in another one, but want it to work well.

Christmas in July at Little Scrap Pieces

Hello Crafty Friends,

Today brings a new challenge at Little Scrap Pieces.

The Challenge...Christmas in July
The weather definitely doesn't feel like winter at 96 degrees, but if you go to Hobby Lobby you sure can get what you need for Christmas already. They even have gorgeous ornaments like this one. : )

Materials:
Joys of the Season Cricut cartridge ~ ornament cut at 2 3/4"
Fancy Pants Designs paper ~ St. Nick pad
cream and burgundy card stock
cream ribbon
self adhesive burgundy pearls
burgundy button
braid cord
Fiskars stamp ~ Vintage Christmas
burgundy ink

Hope you will join us at Little Scrap Pieces for our "Christmas in July" challenge. It is much easier to make a few throughout the year rather than procrastinate until the last month.

Be sure to stop by and see the other Design Team holiday projects.

Celebrating the Season in Pastels

Hello Crafty Friends,

I sure hope you have enjoyed your day. My hubby and I went shopping and have just about  everything done for Christmas. One final run tomorrow and we should be all set. Monday morning will be spent cleaning and cooking before company arrives for a Christmas Eve celebration. Then we wait for Santa!

Now I have another holiday card. After the black, white, and red Santa card yesterday I wanted to incorporate soft, pastel colors.  I also love how doilies look. It is only the second or third time using one, but I am attracted to the intricate cuts and the varieties you can buy.
I used four different pattern papers (MME ~ Merry) as part of the 12 Days of Christmas at Frosted Designs ~Day 4.
This festive tree was cut at 2 1/4" from the Joys of the Season Cricut cartridge.
The pink bow adds a feminine touch to an ordinary tree.

Other Challenges:
Weekly Christmas Card Challenge ~ Doilies
Celebrate the Occasion ~ Christmas Anything

Hope you enjoy your last weekend before the BIG day.
Happy Holidays,
Georgiana

Rockin' The Holidays

Hello Crafty Friends,

First day of Winter Break and didn't even sleep in late. Woke up just like a regular school day. Hoping to get a lot accomplished during my two weeks off. I have Christmas shopping to finish and cards to make for family and friends. Then I need to work on Thank You cards for my class. My students were very generous...of course, I can't brag about them enough!

Today happens to be my Exploring Cricut day. I STILL love to use my Cricut. I search for deals on cartridges and continue to add to my collection. I guess I am not good with some changes (new machines) and why switch if mine is still working.

Here is my Design Team project...
This card was personalized at the request of a co-worker for her grandson.
Hoping he (Job) has a rockin' good time on his first Christmas!
Materials:
Bo Bunny paper
red, brown, and white card stock
Joys of the Season ~ horse (p. 57) cut at 2 3/4"
Plantin Schoolbook ~ font shadow cut at 1/2"
Spellbinders ~ Lacey Circle
red ribbon
red gems
blue button
white embroidery floss
wiggly eye

How About Some Cocoa After Skating?

Good Morning,

Although I live in Florida now, when I was younger and lived in Massachusetts I used to ice skate when the local ponds froze over or friends and I would go to the ice skating rink. I don't remember ever being very good at it (I liked roller skating much better!), but it was a popular winter sport. I am sure it had to do with the cold weather. I probably wouldn't stay out long enough to get good at it since I prefer warm places. What I do know, hot cocoa was and still is the perfect way to warm up.
 Materials:
Colorbok paper
Joys of the Season cartridge ~ cup (p. 51) cut at 2 1/2"
Winter Woodland cartridge ~ skate (p. 51) cut at 1 3/4" and year cut at 1/2"
white glitter
brown gems
rust colored embroidery floss

Challenges:

I am glad my children have had the opportunity to try ice skating a few times. We have been to Ober Gatlinburg when they were younger, our city brought in a portable ice skating rink for the holidays a couple years ago, and we even went on a cruise that had a rink.

Have you ever been ice skating?

Here Comes Santa

Good Morning,

I hope everyone is doing well. I have lunch plans with a dear friend, so I am very excited. We haven't spent any time together since she took leave to finish her degree, so I am thrilled we have this opportunity.

Every year, my two children (17 and 13 now) get one present from Santa. The wrapping paper is always different than all the others and it is hidden away rather than stored in the same container. The paper usually has Santa images on it too. I thought this next challenge was perfect since I made Santa tags to match.
I made this one on the right for my son. Don't you love that North Pole charm? The one on the left is for my daughter.
The back of the tag. I used the Celebrations cartridge to cut the words.
Materials:
Preserves cartridge ~ tags at 3 1/2"
Doodlecharms cartridge ~ Santa (top) cut at 2"
Joys of the Season cartridge ~ Santa (bottom) cut at 2"
Celebrations cartridge ~ To and From cut at 1/2"
Cuttlebug embossing folder ~ Snowflake and Swiss dots
red ribbons
white and red ink
red, green, and white buttons
North Pole charm
silver gem ~ pom pom on Santa's hat
wiggly eyes ~ 4mm
white glitter (Santa's hat)
all papers are from the scrap pile

 Challenges:
Bitten By the Bug 2 ~ Tag/Christmas Image (No Winter Frolic cartridge, yet...I am still hoping to get it!)

Merry Christmas to all,
Georgiana

Four Cards, Three Cartridges, Two Layers, and One Sketch

Hello Crafty Friends,

I am feeling quite festive today since I am making holiday cards. I found a sketch at Our Creative Corner and decided to use it to make a few different ones. The challenge is to use this very basic sketch, and "decorate" it! You can turn it on it's side or turn it upside-down or leave it like it is and then embellish or "decorate" it as much as you want!

What a great challenge!

Materials:
Forever Young cartridge ~ scalloped flower p.66 (4") and circle p.68 (5 3/4")

Joys of the Season cartridge ~ holly p. 69 (2 1/4")
various holiday paper scraps (Bo Bunny, Paper Pizazz, K&Company)
red, green, white, silver, and brown cardstock
Cuttlebug embossing folder
red, green, and gold gems
green ribbon
blue craft thread

Hope you are enjoying your weekend. I need to make a dozen more cards for an order, then I am going to try creating tags. I sure have seen some beautiful ones this season.

Together Forever Using a Christmas Cut. Are You Up for the Challenge?

Hello Crafty Friends!
Did you know there is a new challenge at Die Cuttin' Divas today? Every Tuesday a new challenge is posted and this is your chance to use any of your die cutting tools to create a card. I have a Cricut Expression, which I use everyday and a Gypsy that I still need to figure out. Many of you may remember my husband bought it for my birthday last year and he reminds me every-now-and-then that I should be using it. Okay...after saying that...I am definitely making myself feel guilty, so I should try sooner than later. : )  Send me your tips though. I am going to need them!

The challenge this week is to use a Christmas cut, but do NOT make a Christmas themed card.

Can you tell I am feeling lovey dovey here?

I used the Joys of the Season cartridge to cut these 2 Turtle Doves at 4". Then I stamped Together Forever in the upper right corner.
  • The swing was cut from silver metal paper.
  • The doves and heart were cut from white glitter paper.
  • White ribbon with silver trim created the bow and there are two silver heart brads in the lower corners.
  • Wiggly eyes
Now it is your turn to create and submit. I will visit throughout the week and leave you some love too. : )

Georgiana

Special Note: There are only 3 days until my Blogoversary. Be on the lookout for a giveaway soon!
