A Train

Now That's Red Hot!

Welcome back and thank you for visiting!

 

Today brings a new challenge at Die Cuttin' Divas, so here is another opportunity for you to share your newest creation.

 

The Challenge...Use Ruby Red

What is the first object that comes to mind when you are asked to name something ruby red? Was it Dorothy's shoes from Wizard of Oz, a giant ruby gemstone, a grapefruit, or maybe a fancy sports car?

 

 Here is my Design Team project...

Now ask me...Red Hots and a fire truck.

I am always inquiring about single colored candy (Thanks Michelle and Jessica for always answering me!) since I love to make treat bags. We don't have a Party City in my town, so I have to look for alternative ways to find what I want for my themes. The movie theatre candy box works perfectly for a few treat bags.

The clear bags are 2 x 2 and I purchased these at the flea market the last time I went. 100 zip bags for only $1.25. They fit perfectly inside the ruby red organza bag. My bestest crafty friend, Carri, sent these to me, but I think you can get them at the Dollar Tree. I also found an on-line company that sells them in multiple colors for only 19 cents each (Sorry... I didn't look at shipping.).

 One wasn't enough, so I made two. I added Glossy Accents to the lights and window. Then I finished it with a "Hot!" label.

Going for a Tractor Ride

Hello Crafty Friends,

 

Welcome back and thanks for stopping by!

Yesterday was a productive day...our cable/internet/phone service was out for half the day; therefore, I spent my time focused on crafting and not reading (or surfing) on the computer. Wow! I need to turn off the computer and more work will get accomplished.

 

I was asked to make a birthday card for a little boy (pronounced Jobe) who loves tractors. My first thought was John Deere and the colors green and yellow. Plus, every tractor has to have enormous wheels!

I used the following sketch from Mojo Monday. What a fun layout!

I was trying to add some stitching around the edges and the thread came undone (the sewing machine and I are still trying to get to know each other), but I didn't notice until I had part of one side stitched. After examining the edge, I decided I liked the look and continued around the entire border. I also discovered a trick how to keep my lines straight. Now I am feeling confident to do some more stitching on my cards! I told you it was a productive day!

Blast Off Before You're Zapped!

Hello Crafty Friends,

 

I hope you are enjoying your Monday. Today is the first official day of summer break, but I already have been out for a technology training. Our class webpages will be changing in the fall, so I wanted a head start. I don't have training again until the end of the month.

 

I am looking forward to break since it gives me a chance to work on "my list". I don't actually have it written down (yet), but I know what I want to do...work on getting published, plan DT projects, get better with the sewing machine, etc. Hoping this is a productive summer! 

 

Here is set of cards I made using a friends Boy Will Be Boys cartridge.

 I used the sketch from 2 Sisters.

 Loving how each cut matches the theme of the paper!
