Birthday Grunge

The other day my daughter and I were talking while we were going to school. I asked her what other types of cards should I try making and she said, "Vintage". I thought that was a great idea until I bought this Tim Holtz paper. I decided to give grunge a try instead and what better way to experiment...I made a card for  her birthday. She commented how she loved the paper, so we will find out if she really meant it.

Happy Birthday Kelsey!

I used the "Just Because" Cards cartridge to cut the cake and scalloped edge. The candle and sentiment was cut from Birthday Bash. The sketch is from Throwback Thursday, but it is not eligible since I used the Cricut to make the image. I did ink the edges with dark brown chalk and used the Swiss Dots Cuttlebug folder for the cake background. The inside of the card has a cream piece of paper that was inked too.

Tip: Don't forget to decorate the envelope too. It is like a sneak peek of what is to come. The recipient will love to guess what the card is going to be from the first moment.
