Mom's the Taxi During the Summer

Hello Crafty Friends,
Hope Father's Day was fabulous for all those special men in your lives.
There is a new challenge that you can enter beginning today. It is over at Exploring Cricut and it is perfect for this time of year.
The Challenge... Summer Fun
The twist...3 Cricut cuts, 2 pattern papers, and 1 embellishment
Here is my Design Team project...
I know you are probablly wondering what does this have to do with summer, huh? Well, my daughter (14 years old) doesn't drive, so I have to take her every where. Also, she wants to play golf this summer before high school starts in the fall. I learned how to play when I was in school, so I will be more than happy to head to the range a few times before playing a round of 9 holes.

Materials:
Momenta paper ~ One Fine Day
yellow card stock
yellow ric rac
Car Decals ~ golf cart (p. 70) cut at 3", girl (p. 23) cut at 1 3/4", and title (p. 48) cut at 1/2"
Can't wait to see your projects for this challenge!

I Thought of You Today

Hello Crafty Friends,

So glad you stopped by!
I have been working on my summer crafting goals and thinking about how to celebrate my 2nd blogoversary, which is next week. I know there will be goodies, but I am still deciding how many and what type. More information will be posted within the next couple of days, so be sure to check back often.

Carri (Abusybee) and I are having fun challenging each other again. While the hubbies have been relaxing we decided to find some challenges (listed below) that we could work on together.

Here is my project...
First, we chose a sketch for the layout of our card. Then we found a couple color challenges...one required purple and then we found another that required two colors.
We added embossing (dry and heat), ribbon, and a punch. Lastly, we included a banner for our sentiment. I learned that I need to use heat embossing more often. It always looks so nice, but you have to apply the right amount of pressure to the stamp...not too hard or it smudges and not too light or some of the letters are missing.
Materials:
purple and white cardstock
kraft paper
purple striped paper
Flower Shoppe Cricut cartridge
Quic Kutz embossing folder
purple crinkle ribbon by 3Girl JAM
purple flower brad
floral edge punch by Martha Stewart
Thinking of You stamp by Cardz TV
lilac embossing powder by Stampendous
brown ink

Challenges:
DL Art:  2 colors, ribbon, and embossing
Cute Card Thursday: Use a Punch
Crop Stop: Banners
Hiding in my Craft Room: Heat embossing
2 Sisters: Stripes and/or Plaid
Little Scrap Pieces: Use Purple
Card Patterns: Sketch

Here is another card...
I used the same sketch and the color purple.

Materials:
My Mind's Eye paper ~ Graceful paper stack
Flower Shoppe Cricut cartridge
purple crinkle ribbon by Karen at Little Scrap Pieces
silver brad
lilac pearls

Looking forward to the next time we can challenge each other. I always have so much fun!

Graduation Thanks

Hello Crafty Friends,

Happy Father's Day!
I hope all those Dad and husbands are being treated well for their special day. We do not have any plans for today, except to go to an early dinner. We gave my hubby all his Father's Day cards and he loved them.

Here is my project for today...
a thank you card that my son is going to use for graduation. Not sure who is going to give it to yet, but he can decide later today so it can go out in the mail tomorrow.
I used Birthday Bash (p. 40) to create the card base...another shaped card! Yeah! I have a box of invitation envelopes that I purchased at Walmart, so I cut the base (6 1/4") as large as I can to fit comfortably.
The stars are double cut at 2" using the Celebrations Cricut cartridge shadow feature (p. 110). I then ran two stars thru my small Xyron machine and added white glitter. There is a foam dot in-between to add dimension.
I used the Spellbinders ~ Picot Edge Circles for the focal point. Hint...use wax paper between the paper and die cut to prevent sticking and tearing.
Pearls add a special touch!

Other Materials:
red and white card stock
blue star pattern paper came from scrap box
"Just Because" Cards Cricut cartridge ~ Thanks cut at 2"
blue ribbon
white pearls

Challenges:

Enjoy the rest of your day!

Merci Mushroom

Good Morning Crafty Friends,

Hope your Wednesday is off to a good start.

I made this card last night, but did not have time to share since I watched a movie with my hubby. Well, I wish I would have been crafting instead because the movie was horrible and I can never get those 2 hours back.
I like how the mushroom holes match the card base.
I finally found some great adhesive (Extreme Micro Adhesive Squares by Glue Arts) that hold the pleated ribbon. I can tell this is going to be a new favorite.
Materials:
 red, white, and blue cardstock
checkered tissue paper (recycled from a student's gift)
Birthday Bash Cricut cartridge ~ card base (p. 31) cut at 4 1/4"
Create -a-Critter Cricut cartridge ~ mushroom (p. 32) cut at 2 1/4" and sentiment (p. 36) cut at 1/2"
red and blue crinkle ribbon (Thanks Karen @ Little Scrap Pieces)
red and white buttons

Summer Goals:
I have set some crafty goals this summer and I am pleased to say that I am working towards them. Here are a few goals: make shape cards (this should count as one), add stitching with the sewing machine, try some 3-D projects, get published, and hit 1000 followers. I am off to a good start, but much more to do still!

What are your crafty goals?

My 2nd blogoversary is coming soon. Goodies will be available!

Be sure to come back tomorrow. A new project for Creative Cutter Room will be posted.
