Cricut 360 DT Call and a Button Threading Tip

With summer approaching I was hoping to submit a few cards for a couple of the Design Team calls. Here is one for the newly created site, Cricut 360. Here are the instructions to apply:

If you are interested in applying for the design team, please create a card or a layout with LIME GREEN and a BUG in it.

This was the first card I made, but I wasn't sure the green was lime enough so I decided to make another. The butterfly was cut from Serenade. The sentiment is a sticker.
I used the Serenade cartridge to cut the branch and flowers. The worm is a brad that I purchased at the Orlando Scrapbook Expo. "Hang in there" was cut from the Wild Card cartridge.

Ever wonder the best way to thread those buttons?
I have a tip.
 Use a dental flosser.

The dental flosser is just like those sewing threaders, but bigger. Yeah! It slides in and out of the hole and pulls your craft thread through with no problems. Go! Give it a try!

Hope to hear soon,
Georgiana

Celebrate Your Birthday and More Crafty Deals

Happy Monday and a wonderful Memorial Day to those who are celebrating. It has been a relaxing day here since we went shopping all day yesterday. We traveled to Jacksonville (FL) in search of some great deals at the craft stores  (I found a few which are posted below.) and my hubby made a trip to Gander Mountain while out and about. He got himself a manly treat, so it was worth his time too.

I finished up these two birthday cards this morning.
Challenges:

The paper is We R Memory Keepers ~ Madame Royale.
I used the Celebrations cartridge to cut the party hat and present. Both are adhered with foam strips to add dimension. The Celebrate sentiment was cut at 1" from the same cartridge.
The flowers with gems (above) are from Scrapbuck.com. The flowers below are from Joanns (orange) and Michaels (pink). The big pink brads are from Joanns too.

ALL materials were purchased on sale, with coupons, or found on clearance. I hardly ever buy anything at regular price. I am able to purchase more for my money by finding unbelievable deals.
Here is one more for a fellow teacher. She asked for a card for her Mother using her favorite colors. The bird was cut from the Serenade cartridge at 3" and Mother was cut from Heritage at 3/4". I will bring it to her tomorrow and hopefully it will be to her satisfaction. She asked for a Father's Day card also (with browns and blues), so I am going to work on that next.
Don't forget to decorate the inside of the card and then the outside of the envelope. It is a sneak peek of what is going to be inside. It is also a way to use those scraps that seem to pile up quickly.

Here are some more deals I found yesterday.
The best deals can be found at your Ross, TJMaxx, or Marshalls if you are willing to search thru their "sometimes messy" shelves. I always look for the edge punches there before anywhere else. They occasionally have the Martha Stewart edge punches for $4.99. I only bought one yesterday, but they actually had 4 or 5 different styles. I know in a day or two I will be wishing I bought the others. Look for your paper pads there too. I found the Sports K&Company pad for $1.49 and the cat stamps were only 70 cents at TJMaxx.

This paper was $2.00 per pack at ACMoore.

Did anyone else find some good deals this weekend? Where do you find the best prices for your craft supplies or biggest selection? Do you prefer ordering on-line? Just curious!

I am going to have a Guest Designer coming soon. More information in the next day or two. If you are interested in a guest spot, please let me know. With summer vacation in a few days, I plan on adding more!

Thanks for stopping by!

Your New Home (Using a Sketch)

I am so happy to see Blogger working correctly. I have visited some crafty friends already this morning and I plan on stopping by more throughout the day. If I have missed you or if you would like me to come and visit, please let me know. I want to see everyone that I have missed this past week. If you would like to recommend a new site, I'd love to check it out.

I was able to create one more card before bed last night. It is for a co-worker at school who asked for a New Home card. I had created one the other day and here is the second for her. I did use Card Patterns sketch #117.
The home was cut from the My World cartridge (p.12).
The paper is the Latte stack by DCWV.
I used purple ribbon and foam strips.
I hope you enjoy your day. We plan on doing a little shopping and then I have some cards to assemble. I have the plans (for four birthday cards for friends at school), the papers, and a few embellishments ready to go. I just need to cut the images and adhere everything.

Until later today,
Georgiana

More Cards While Bloggerless

I am one of those folks that have been having problems with Blogger, so I have been using my time to create cards for friends. I do miss commenting everyday (although I have been able to view everyone's projects). Please understand I am NOT ignoring or avoiding! I plan on visiting more once all is resolved!

I still do not have access to followers either, but I am sure that will work out too. I will just continuing searching other ways to keep in touch (Facebook). If you have any suggestions, please let me know!

Here are some of the cards I created...

Challenges:
The Paper Variety ~ Stars ~ missed deadline
Challenge:
This card is either going to say Happy Birthday or Happy Anniversary. I am going to show a co-worker on Tuesday and let her decide. I will then cut the sentiment out in white.

Enjoy your weekend,

Get Well Soon

One of our 5th grade students was admitted to Shands Hospital this week and he will be there approximately 5 days or more (which means he will probably miss the rest of the school year).  He was diagnosed with perforated abscess appendix after being sick for a couple weeks.  He will undergo surgery later this summer once the infection is cleared.

Since he is a big baseball fan, I made this card for him at the request of our school secretary.
The baseball, bat and All Star were cut from the Potpourri Basket cartridge.
The paper is K&Company ~ Americana pad.

Hoping he has a safe and speedy recovery.

Until next time,
Georgiana

How Charming

There is a new challenge at Paper Playtime and you do not want to miss this one. Have you ever thought about using a charm on your project, but not quite sure how? Today's challenge is perfect you! The Design Team has plenty of projects to help you get ideas on how you can incorporate this tiny embellishment, but add a lot of pizzaz.

Here is mine...
When I found this charm, I thought she was very elegant and would be a perfect addition. I hope you agree.
I like to purchase my charms either in the beads department or scrapbooking section when they are on clearance. I look for muli-packs with a variety of charms since I want unique pieces. Be sure to check your craft store next time you go. You will be amazed with what you can find.

If you would like to see other projects with charms, click here , here, or here. (Just wanted you to see a variety and how easy they can be to use.)

Have fun with this challenge.

Lots of Cards for Various Challenges

Hello and thank you for stopping by. I am glad you were able to come and visit again. I truly enjoy sharing with my fellow crafters.

I have been very busy making cards during the last 24 hours, so I could bring them to my Science meeting this morning. I like to share with the other teachers and secretly hope they will want some. Lucky for me they did.

Here are my newest creations...
Happy Birthday ~ "Just Because" cards
Challenge:

Baby Shower
 Challenge:

Happy Birthday ~ Birthday Bash
Challenge:

Forever Young
Challenges:

Potpourri Basket  ~ flower
Challenge:

I hope you had a great day. I enjoyed getting together with my teacher friends that I only get to see when we meet for Science. We will be getting together next month for a few more work sessions. I will need to make a few more cards before then. One request I received was for a UF Gator theme. That will easy!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend. I am hoping to make a few more cards tomorrow for some other challenges. I am going to search for a  couple sketches too. If you would like to recommend a favorite challenge blog,  I would appreciate it.

Stay Creative,
Georgiana

Celebrate Your Birthday

Good Morning!
Many of you may remember that my Mom passed away very unexpectedly in December. Well, today would have been her special day. Although she is not here, I still am thinking of her.
Happy Birthday Mom!

Crafty Ho's Sketch Challenge

I sure do like to enter sketch challenges now. It amazes me to see the variety of projects that come from one design plan. Here is my take on this week's Crafty Ho 6 sketch #97.
I received this Creative Memories paper while at a scrapbooking party last month. I sure do like all the colors and patterns. That is why I made three cards instead of just one. Buttons are one of my favorite embellishments to use, so they were easy to incorporate.

The "Something Special" stamp is from My Pink Stamper" and the "Celebrate..." was part of a pack I picked up for Mother's Day at my local scrapbooking store for $1.00.

Enjoy your crafting time,
Georgiana

Freedom

Memorial Day is right around the corner which means Summer is not far behind. I am looking forward to some R & R and crafting time. : )
Being in the festive mood, I created this card for the holidays. The base card is kraft cardstock and then I layered decorative papers. I used the Independence Day cartridge to create the triangular banner (3") and sentiment (1"). Lastly, I added white star buttons in the two corners.

Enjoy your day,

For the Graduate and Bake Sale Hop Winner

Hard to believe another school year is almost over. Graduation ceremonies will be starting within the next couple of weeks and then the next group of students will be moving up. Here is a set of cards for any graduate from the Class of 2011.
The graduation cap on the right was cut at 2 1/4" from the Wrap it Up! cartridge. I used foam pieces to add dimension and a black button near the top of the tassle.

Here Comes Baby

I made this card for another teacher. It is one of two Baby Shower cards she needs. One is for a boy and one will be unisex.
  •  I used Heidi Grace paper ~ BBoy Words Deco
  • Baby Shower was cut from Potpourri Basket cartridge at 2"
  • Rattle was cut from Wild Card cartridge at 6"
  • blue and yellow buttons
  • cream craft thread
The Here Comes Baby! stamp came from Michaels. It was part of a Baby Set of 14 clear stamps on clearance for less than a $1.00. None of the prices were marked correctly, but they have a couple price checkers in the store, so I had my son check the prices on all the stamps they had left. I found 4 different sets. Lucky Day!

Challenges:

Now I must make the unisex card.
Until tomorrow when the Bake Sale Hop winner is announced.

Bake Sale Hop Day 2 and Winners for the 500 Followers Giveaway

Good Morning!

Welcome Back for Day 2! Thank you for joining us for the Bake Sale Blog Hop. Although we are not raising money for the cause, we are making people aware of a major problem in our country.
More Did You Knows...
  • Lack of enough nutritious food impairs a child’s ability to concentrate and perform well in school.
  • They are more likely to experience headaches, stomachaches, colds, ear infections and fatigue.
  • Children who struggle with hunger are sick more often, recover more slowly, and are more likely to be hospitalized.
It absolutely amazes me that so many children can be hungry when we waste as much as we do in our nation. If you want to host an actual Bake Sale, Click Here to find out how.

Here is today's project.

I created these 3 X 3 Thank You cards. I want to make sure those participants are well recognized and will help again next time.

The base card is cream colored cardstock to match the vanilla cake and then I  layered K&Company papers. A corner punch rounded the edges nicely. I used my new EK Success scalloped edge punch and the "Thank You" stamp is by My Pink Stamper. The desserts are stickers attached with foam squares.

Please leave a comment for your chance to win the Cricut Holiday Cakes cartridge generously donated by Cricut Direct.com.

Be sure to include your e-mail address and your site (if you have one). The winner will be announced Tuesday evening.

Get Some Yummy Goodies at Our Bake Sale Blog Hop (Projects and Prizes)

Thank you for joining us today.
We are ALL extremely glad you have decided to join us after Blogger's temporary technical issue on Thursday and Friday. It is a pleasure to be able to finally share our Bake Sale goodies with everyone.
Did you know...

1 in 4 children in the United States struggle with hunger. That means 17 million kids go through uncertainty as to when or how they’ll eat. In a country of excess, those numbers are inexcusable.

Saturday, May 14, food bloggers around the country will set out tables of delicious treats to raise money for Share Our Strength, a nonprofit that works to make sure all children in the United States have enough to eat. The bakers will be participating in the second annual National Food Blogger Bake Sale.

Our contribution is Bake Sale goodies that can be used to either help advertise such a worthy cause or items that you would find at a Bake Sale. First, I made the poster above. I used Plantin Schoolbook to cut the letters and shadow at 3". The flower cupcake was cut from Sweet Treats at 2 1/2" and the cake was cut from "Just Because" Cards at 6". The 3 1/2" chocolate chip cookie was cut using From My Kitchen.
I made these toppers using the same flower from cupcake #4 on Sweet Treats. Double-sided tape was adhered between the two and it held the toothpick in place nicely.

I made chocolate cupcakes and tinted the white frosting blue and green. I have to share...I wanted to make pink frosting and didn't have red food coloring, so I sent my 16 year old son to the store to purchase a box. He came home and said that him and another male floor associate looked, but Walmart doesn't carry food coloring. Then I sent him to the neighbor's house to ask to borrow some. One does not own any food coloring and the others were not home! Needless to say, I do not have pink frosted cucpcakes. I guess I am going to have to do it myself next time!
I did bring these cupcakes to school on Friday and shared with the other teachers I work with. They loved them! My students were hoping they were for them and they were a little disappointed when I told they were not, so I guess I will need to make another batch just for them. And this time, I can have pink too!
Be sure to visit everyone! There are only eight of us. You will enjoy a variety of projects created by amazing crafters! There are goodies too.

Here is the line up for the other crafter's particpating today.

I am able to say that  CricutDirect.com was very generous and donated a Cricut cartridge for today's prize.
Please leave a comment stating what your favorite baked goodie is for a chance to win. I have many sweets that I enjoy, but chocolate chip brownies are at the top of my list. Be sure to leave your e-mail address and your site (if you have one). The winner will be announced on Tuesday evening.

Be sure to come back tomorrow for another project and goodie!

Enjoy the delicious yummies!
Georgiana

P.S. The winners for the 500 Follower Appreciation Giveaway will be announced tomorrow morning. I will add them the bottom of the Bake Sale Blog Hop post. I wanted to provide the one extra day that Blogger temporarily took away. I hope everyone understands.
