My 2013 Favorites and 2014 Goals

In just a few hours 2013 will be history. Where did the time go?!?! What better time to look back at the year in review than now. After reviewing my projects, previous posts, and DT commitments I have had the chance to reflect and pick a few projects that I favored.

Here are a few of my 2013 projects...

I was on a few Design Teams (Die Cuttin' Diva, Little Scrap Pieces, Exploring Cricut), participated in a couple blog hops, and I am extremely thankful for the opportunity to share. I personalized numerous cards for co-workers, learned to work with vinyl so I could make LOTS of tumblers, created a variety of treat bags, and have become friends with many crafty people.

I still have goals for 2014...I would love to be published one day. I want to master the Cameo! I need to be able to use the sewing machine without having to ask my daughter for help...that is very important! I want to learn how to take better photographs. I want to stay in touch with all my crafty friends, meet others that decide to take the leap in the crafty world, and I want to continue to share and learn from others. I have the tendency to get comfortable and not explore other techniques, BUT I WANT to learn. I need to try more! Share your suggestions! What should I try while I still have a few more days off?!?!

Happy New Year!

Hello Again Crafty Friends,

Thanks for stopping by on this "Marvelous Monday". I have been busy taking pictures of a few projects and I am still planning more to do. I sure do love Winter Break! Having time to be creative is priceless!

In my last post I ended with "I was feeling ready to conquer the world". You know that feeling when you think you can do ANYTHING. Well...I may not have conquered the world yet, but I have been conquering this Cameo. : ) I have learned to download and organize my files, adjust sizes to a reasonable card fit, and arrange the various papers on the mats. Now... that is progress to me! Thanks for ALL your help my fellow Cameo users!

Ready for more...here is my newest.

Lots of layering
 Pop dots for dimension
Other Materials:

Heart Window Treat Bags ~ Silhouette Studio

Happy Saturday Crafty Friends,

I have been busy organizing my craft area to get ready for a new year. LOTS of goals and BIG plans for 2014. How about you...have you been thinking about what you hope to accomplish in the upcoming year?

I wanted to learn some new techniques, which using the Silhouette Studio Designer Edition might just meet that, huh? I received a $10 download card with my new Cameo and I bought one file (YES, only one so far...so many more I can see I want already!). I wanted to test it out and get good at the program. Using the Cricut is easy, so I am sure this will be too!

Here is a Heart Window Treat bag.
This was my first attempt. The card stock seems a little flimsy, but it works!

The tag was included, but I added the Peppermint twine, K Andrews Valentine stamp, and I used an edge punch for the small hearts.

On my second attempt...
I was able to fit 3 bags on one sheet of 12 X 12 paper.
Each bag is 11.180" X 3.405".
Other materials:
K&Company paper ~ Smitten
white card stock
Hershey Kisses
plastic bag ~ 3" x 3"
pink ink

Looking and feeling like I am ready to conquer the world!
What is next?!?!

Feeling Better Just in Time for a Merry Christmas

Wow! Christmas Eve and Christmas Day are just a blur now. Both days were wonderful, especially since family was able to come here. My meds finally started working on Christmas Eve, so I was able to create a few projects and it has been non-stop since.

First...I still have a bunch of these plastic tumblers, so I decided to make some last minute gifts. I used various colors of vinyl and the Plantin Schoolbook Cricut cartridge. The tops are tied with coordinating bows.
The polka dots range in size from 1" to 1/4".
Secondly...I used holiday M&Ms for a final candy jar.
Although the white tag is simple, the stamp is from My Craft Spot...Mistletoe set. Love the bells and festive twine!

Lastly...My new toy! This was the first Cameo cut I made, Pretty Paper Pretty Ribbons penguin. I tried after everyone left and I watched a dozen You Tube videos. Not too bad! The size is too big for a card, but it sure would fit on a scrapbook layout page. I will be exploring more now that I have the basics. I even found a project from the Silhouette store I am trying next. I am definitely glad I am feeling better!
More crafty news coming soon!

Until Next Time,
Georgiana

Congrats My Craft Spot Winner!

Welcome Back Crafty  Friends,

I haven't been around for the past few days since I have been sick. I do not get sick often, but when I do...I do it right. I decided after 3 days of high fever, coughing, not eating or drinking for days, then the intense feeling that someone was laying a pile of bricks on my chest was enough. I went to the doctors yesterday and left with 3 scripts and a diagnosis of bronchitis. Today has been the first full day of meds (5 different types total) and I am starting to feel better...in between the coughing! So glad it is the beginning of Winter Break, so I still have time to recuperate and enjoy.

Today I would like to announce the winner from my Guest Designer post at My Craft Spot. THANK YOU everyone for the kind words you left. I sure do love to make treats for my students and co-workers. Before making the announcement here is one more card using the Metal Tiny Tag Dies (I made it Thursday night just before I got sick.). They are AWESOME!
This card was made at a co-workers request for her neighbor who just graduated from nursing school.
The medical pieces were cut from Everyday Paper Dolls (p. 60) at 5 1/2".

The winner of one stamp set from My Craft Spot is...
Congratulations!
Send me an e-mail and I will forward your information to Kimberly.

Happy Holidays,
Georgiana

Be Merry as a Guest Designer at My Craft Spot

Hello Crafty Friends,

I am super excited today! I have the privilege of being a Guest Designer for My Craft Spot!  Not too long ago I was inquiring about Kimberly's stamps and metals die when we she asked if I would be interested in being a guest. Of course, I jumped at the opportunity. What an honor!

I have admired the Tiny Tags and Metal Dies, Tiny Doilies Metal Dies, the Stamping ALL Around line, and let's not forget the other amazing stamps. I decided I was going to purchase some and I have not been disappointed. I have been using them for the past month and I am sure glad I did! I have made numerous projects and today I would like to share one of the many.

For my project, I made holiday treats for my co-workers.
I made toppers for the wand candy bags, which are stacked with red and green M&Ms. I tied a Mistletoe green crinkle ribbon at the top of each one.

I used the Mistletoe stamp set for the Be Merry sentiment and the holly image. I used a cherry red LePlume marker to color the berries.
A small tin cup makes the perfect holder.
Kimberly wants everyone to "Be Merry" this holiday season. She is going to offer a stamp set of your choice to one lucky person for leaving a comment on my blog. Be sure to state which My Craft Spot stamp set is your favorite. Yes, I know...you can only choose one!

A Cherry on Top Birthday

Only two days...that is until Winter Break begins. No plans to travel anywhere, but that is actually good. That means more time to be crafty! I am beginning to make a list of different techniques/projects that I have said I wanted to make, but never have...twisted easel card, paper piecing...what else should I add?  The sewing machine needs to be pulled out too since I have only used it a couple times!

Happy Birthday
This card is for someone who shares their birthday with Christmas Day. I have a student in my class that has a birthday on the sane day. Who knew the 15th was so popular.
I used "Just Because" Cards to cut this cake (p. 45) at 6". I scattered pink pearls on the frosting and glitterized the cherry.
I used the Hey Cupcake! stamp set from Jaded Blossom. This is one of the many sets I purchased during the Black Friday sale. Some of you may remember, but for those that missed the news...It was my 20th Anniversary that weekend, so my hubby told me to get a few...I ended up picking 9 sets! There are still a few more on my Wish List, but I will have to wait until I sell a few more cards or Valentine's Day.
Other Materials:
My Mind's Eye paper ~ Merry Little Christmas stack
pink and white card stock
pink and green pearls
pink glitter
brown and pink ink
pink crinkle ribbon

My Christmas present is supposed to arrive Friday (or Monday if USPS is delayed with the weather). I am excited my new Cameo will be here soon, but I still have to wait until Christmas to open it. That is okay! It sure is something to look forward to!

Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Holidays from Die Cuttin' Divas

Welcome back and thank you for visiting! If this is your first time here...enjoy! I hope I can inspire you to create something fun. My hubby just ordered me a Cameo for Christmas (Yippee!) so my projects may change, but my love for crafting will remain the same.

There is a new challenge at Die Cuttin' Divas, so here is another opportunity for you to share your newest creation.

The Challenge...Happy Holidays
I made a few cards over the past couple of days, so I decided to share them all since Winter Break is approaching rapidly and I should have plenty of time to create more.
I enjoy this patchwork style since it uses my tiny scraps. I cut the pieces into squares and rectangles then glue. I have more scraps, so next time I want to add some stitching around the edge. The oval is a die cut from Plantin School and the stamps are from Inkadinkadoo.

I made one Hello Kitty elf last week, but I needed a few more for a co-worker. Shape cards are on my list since I have been using rectangular bases much too often. (Do you feel you ever overuse a product or style?) I feel more comfortable trying other shapes now that I figured out the "trick" (blackout feature).
This gingerbread house was cut at 2 3/4" from Wrap It Up.
Can't wait to see what you make and share at Die Cuttin' Diva for the next two weeks! Now go check out the Design Team projects...we are spreading LOTS of holiday cheer!
