Day 7

Final Day for the Back to School Hop

I finally finished one of the two projects just in time for the last day...26 images, 26 shadows, and 26 letters later...

I really like how my Word Wall turned out. I am going to laminate each picture when I get back to school on Tuesday so they will be more durable and then hang them up. I think the parents and students will like it better than just the individual letter.

I used the Camp Out cartridge and cut each image at 4". The white letters were cut from Plantin SchoolBook at 3".

Two Projects in Progress

Day 7

Back to School Hop

I have two projects started that I need to finish for the final day, Sunday. Wow! That is tomorrow already. It has been a pleasure creating, posting, sharing, reading comments, visiting your sites, and being able to give away goodies. 

• The first one consist of 30 Teacher Name Plates for Meet Your Teacher. My friend, Yvette, at The Little Things, has been my partner for this project. Our principal asked us to make them since our PTO purchased the Cricut Expression (and 12 Cricut cartridges) thru a mini grant I wrote for us to use at our school and for the scrapbooking club that we volunteered to initiate as an after school enrichment program for the 3rd - 5th graders. We figured it was the least we could do to help. His only request was to include the image of the Cricut. That was easy!

• The second one is my Word Wall. I am using the Camp Out cartridge once again. Since I am cutitng out 26 images and letters it is taking me a little longer than expected. I like how they are coming out so far. I plan on using about 6 different images and either black or white letters. I will post the final pictures on Sunday.

Day 6

Back to School Hop

  Magnetic Bookmark

Here are the supplies you need for today's project:

• 1" strip of paper that is 6" in length
• self-adhevise magnet
• favorite Cricut cut ~ mine is a moose track cut at 1" from Camp Out

 

Steps:

1. Fold piece of paper in half

2. Glue favorite cut on top portion of folded strip

3. Attach magnet to the inside bottom of each strip

 

I like these bookmarks because when students are walking around and holding their book sideways thier place will not get lost since the bookmark does not fall out.

 

 

It is hard to believe it has been almost a week. I hope you have been enjoying all of our projects. I know I have and I am looking forward to making some myself! It actaully will be very difficult to chose which one to do first. We LOVE the comments and checking out your sites. There are some really amazing projects posted!

Let's Go Exploring on Day 5

Camp Carson's Class of Learning

Anyone that has visited my class knows that I LOVE moose...there are pictures, stuffed animals, books, droppings (I did not collect these ~ students have brought them back from their vacations. You have to love 5th graders sense of humor!), etc. Therefore, all my students are introduced to my collection (obsession sounded just a little too strong) and they are more than welcome to become a part of it.

My project today is a Survival Kit for each student. Since students are going to be exploring a challenging curriculum this year, I knew they were going to need a few supplies. I created 18 of these bags (the maximum number of students allowed in grades 4 - 5 is 22 due to class size amendment)

I used the Camp Out cartridge for the moose, frame, and sign. The grass was cut from Plantin Schoolbook. The Survival Guide was typed on Microsoft Word.

I am going to include items such as: pencils, erasers, Smarties, a free homework pass (I am going to use the scrap pieces from inside the frames), and a bookmark (which I will be making this week).

I will be honest...I did not spend as much time on these bags as I did the cards because I knew kids would not save these. They are going to take the goodies out and cram the bag "somewhere". I am definitely going with "the thought counts" on this one.

Back to School Blog Hop

The question is, " Who do we appreciate?" 

The answer is, "Everyone!" 

For today's Back to School project I have created THANK YOU cards. I want to be able to thank my fellow teachers and paraprofessionals for making our work experience pleasant, my student's parents for thier continual support, and PTO for approving the mini grants I write.  What better way to show them I genuinely appreciate working together than giving them one of my hand-made cards.

That is my new abc123 edge punch on the left. It is perfect for Back to School.

This one above is my favorite. I like that "thanks" looks like letter tiles. They are separate letters cut from the Alphabet Stack.

Those are star brads.

This card is for someone very special. Can you tell her name begins with the letter D?

 I LOVE  this Alphabet Stack by DCWV I found on clearance at TJMaxx for only $2.00. It is perfect for school.

To show my appreciation to "Everyone" for all the wonderful comments, I am adding an additional goodie. I will be offering a Learning Curve Cricut cartridge to another lucky person (Yes, two different followers will be selected for the blog candy.). I am thrilled that I reached 100 followers during this Back to School hop and wanted to share my excitement. Thank you for making this such a success!

Back to School...Day 3

Welcome Back!

Wow! What an exciting week it has been so far with all these wonderful projects. We hope that you have seen something that you have liked or inspired you to create a card or gift for someone you know.

Here is my next project.

  Actually, this is the before shot. I made 3 stair step cards to be used as awards.

I know that students LOVE to be recognized for their outstanding achievements, but I also know they are not very organized or careful at times (especially when it is time to go home at the end of the day). Therefore, I created these academic awards: Reading, Math, and Science. Students will be more careful with taking these home to show mom and dad rather than craming it into the bottom of their bookbag.

Back to School...Day 2

 Thank you for coming back if you were here yesterday for our First Annual Back to School Blog Hop, and "Welcome" if you are here for the first time.

Here is today's project:

I am creating "Back to School" cards for each of my students. I have only created 10 at this time because I do not know the exact number of students I will have in each grade (4th or 5th). Once I get a final roster I will be able to make the others. 

I used craft paper for the base card. It reminds me of the brown sacks that kids use for their lunches. I embossed the cardstock because I knew students would love to feel the raised dots and swirls. I used a 1"strip of school decorative paper. The school house is red, white and blue (just like the grade) since those are our school colors.    

This card happens to be perfect for the Paper Playtime. The challenge this week is Back to School. Be sure to visit Janis for more wonderful projects.

Ring...Ring...Ring....It's Time for the Back To School Blog Hop

The day has finally arrived!

It's time to begin our First Annual Back to School Blog Hop.

Thank you for joining us today. We are very excited that you have decided to visit. We have planned this hop to last an entire week which means many different things.

Day 1

I created this centerpiece using Locker Talk and My Community. I am going to use it at our Meet Your Teacher Day which is the Friday before school starts. I chose vibrant colors for each picture and various subjects. I attached each cut to a bamboo shoot and that is colored rice in the vase. How do you make it?  Just use food coloring and a plastic cup. Then spread out on a paper plate to allow drying time.

Blog Hop Sneak Peek

Here is a Sneak Peek at our first

annual Back to School blog-hop!

It is hard to believe that in less than two week I have to go back to school and start teaching again. This year is going to be extremely challenging with new Sunshine State Standards (Can you guess where I live?), a new math series, and a 4/5 split. I am so glad I have cardmaking to turn to when I get home as a way to relax. I LOVE that I have found this new hobby and met so many new people, especially the following who have agreed to participate in this hop.

We are going to create numerous projects throughout the week that teachers can make for their students, parents can make for teachers, Teacher Appreciation gifts, Thank You cards, and much more!
