Valentine Critters

Happy Friday!
This has been a stressful week (I didn't do that great with my goal of not taking school work home with me. I will need to do better next week!) and I am glad it is almost the weekend. Of course, what better way to start the weekend than with a couple of cute Valentine critters.

Today's project...
The school secretary asked me to make a couple of Valentine cards for her grandbabies. Who could object? I said definitely!

I used the following sketch by Sketch Saturday for the layout of the card.
This cutie is by PPnN. It is an oldie (and probably not available any more), but I had it in my SVG file library and couldn't resist for the 1 year granddaughter. It is her first Valentine. I added cherry glitter glue on her heart shaped nose to match the sparkly enamel dot on the bow. The sentiment strips are by My Favorite Things and the stamped sentiment is an old wooden stamp from Michaels dollar bin. I just love the font!

This cute Valentine raccoon is by Miss Kate Cuttables. Be sure to check out all the Valentine files...what a fabulous selection!
Other Challenges:

Hope you have a fabulous weekend. I plan on taking some time to relax, go out to eat, shop, watch a movie or two on the Hallmark Channel, and craft. Sounds like a perfect way to de-stress! Hope it goes as planned.

Mouse Challenge at Pause Dream Enjoy

Happy Wednesday Everyone!
Welcome back to Carson's Creations and thanks for visiting!

Today I am sharing the new challenge at Pause Dream Enjoy Challenges. I hope you will join us this week.

This Week's Challenge...
~ Mouse ~

Here is my Design Team project...
Eeeek! It's a mouse. Well, it is a cute one!

I added a Cherry flavor Tootsie pops to the inside of each mouse. I put one micro Glue Dot underneath to prevent the lollipop from slipping out.

I tied the My Craft Spot tiny tag with twine that I found in my stash. My box needs to be organized; therefore, I don't have all the labels with the names of colors on them. Sorry! The stamped sentiment is by My Craft Spot also.

The Key Bored  Lollipop Cover file is by SVG Cutting Files. It is another trio set, so you have a few options.

Snowflakes at Die Cuttin' Divas

Hello Diva Fans!
Welcome back to Carson's Creations and thanks for popping by!

Today I am sharing the new challenge at Die Cuttin' Divas. I hope you will join us this week and show off your creative side.

This Week's Challenge...
~ Snowflakes ~

Here is my Design Team project...
I bought these snowflake bags at Michaels for 80% off and thought they would be perfect for this challenge. I figured a tag would be a great addition to the front of each one.

I cut each PPPR tag on my Cameo. It is about 4" x 2.5". The Layered Snowflakes by My Favorite Things were cut with my Cuttlebug. I cut a variety of pieces in dark blue, silver, and light blue and then layered them. The stamped sentiment is by Whimsical Designs. The dark blue gingham and light blue striped ribbon was tied with a bow maker and adhered with a Glue Dot.

I found the candy at Dollar Tree. I searched for wrappers that came in different shades of blue. I was going to mix the pieces, but the peppermint gum was too strong for the Cookies and Cream Hershey Kisses. Therefore, each bag has its own type of treat.

Hope you will join us at Die Cuttin' Divas this week for our "Snowflakeschallenge.

Valentine Lollipops for My Class

Hi Everyone!

Been sleeping some odd hours lately, so I decided to use the time wisely...not grading papers! Instead I have been crafting, commenting, searching for new goodies, and looking for challenges. I think that is definitely a better way to spend my time. The student work will still be there tomorrow when I head back to school!

Since it has been quite frigid and and I seem to be attached to my little portable heater, I have been busy in my craft room. It has been a long time since I have been this far ahead of a holiday. I am extremely surprised and thrilled with myself. Happy Early Valentine! 💖

Today's project...
I made treats for my students. I wonder if they know how lucky they are to get these homemade goodies. Of course, I know 10 year olds and I don't want to over-do with embellishments.

I bought the lollipops at the Dollar Tree.  I tied each one closed with some peppermint twine from Divine Twine. The stamped sentiment is from Jaded Blossom ~ Valentine Treats.

The lollipops are the slim heart shaped (cherry flavor) pops that fit nicely between the cover.

I used the following svg file ~ Valentine Treat Pack Set from SVG Cutting Files. It is on sale and it has three different pieces, so you can make a variety of treats. I haven't made the pencil one, but I may since my students never have enough or they seem to disappear daily!
Challenges:
Inspire. Create ~ Love
DL.Art ~ January Linky Party
Cardz TV ~ Anything Goes

Thanks for stopping by!

Wood U Be Mine

Hello Crafty Friends!
Hubby hasn't been around today since he has been helping our son build a table, so I have been keeping busy. Went to Hobby Lobby and Michaels this morning, finished a couple projects, took a few pictures and edited them, and now I am sharing.

Today's project...
I bought this Sizzix die at the Scrapbook Expo last year and had to put it away in the Valentine's box until now. It sure is a neat little die. I am glad I had some wood grain paper.

I used the following sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches.

First, I used my hand held Tim Holtz tool for distressing the edges of the pattern paper. I then mounted the heart on foam squares for dimension, added a bit of clear Wink of Stella to the "u", and adhered a bow to the tiny limb to match the buttons. Those oblong buttons were deep in my stash, but I thought they filled the space on the sketch nicely.

Hope you have a cozy night!

Anything Goes Challenge at Craftaholics R Us

Hello Crafty Friends and Happy Wednesday!
It's Hump Day!

Thanks for stopping by at Carson's Creations and welcome to my new crafty followers. I hope I can inspire you to create something new! Don't forget to leave your blog's name, so I can visit you. Today I am joining the challenge at Craftaholics R Us as the DT floater.

This Week's Challenge...
~ Anything Goes ~

Here is my Design Team project...
I enjoy playing with watercolors because the colors and design is always different. You never know what you will get when the colors dry, you layer additional colors on top of each other, or you just let the colors blend naturally. I used picked raspberry and worn lipstick oxide inks for both of these backgrounds. I splattered some raspberry, white, and silver too. I then used the MFT abstract heart and cut it a few times in various colors with my Cuttlebug.

For this one I added some embroidery floss, silver enamel dots, LOVE die-cut, and you was stamped and heat embossed with silver powder.

For the second card, the stamped sentiment is by Scrappy Moms Stamps and the ribbon is by Melissa Frances. I used micro sized Glue Dots to adhere the crinkled ribbon and bow.

Hope you will join us at Craftaholics R Us this week for our "Anything Goeschallenge. Be sure to check out the other craftaholics.

This Week's Challenge...
~ Dragons ~

Here is my Design Team project...
This adorable dragon is by Little Scraps of Heaven

The stamped sentiment is by Whimsicals Designs.

You Light Up My Life

Hello.
I am enjoying the day off while getting a few tasks crossed off the list. I have a couple more things I want to accomplish and then this day will have been well spent.

I wanted to join a few sketch challenges (I actually have four saved to my desktop. The others are: Stella Says Sketch, YNS, and Sketch Saturday) and this was the first one completed. Hoping to get to the others this afternoon and be able to combine them with some other current challenges.

Today's project...
I need to make a bunch of thank you and birthday cards (plus a few Valentine cards), but I decided to make this for a friend first. I think she will be surprised and enjoy receiving it.

I used the following sketch from My Favorite Things.

The lightbulb die, stamped sentiment (Make a Wish stamp set), pennant, and heart pattern paper are from MFT. I used white embossing powder by Zing for the sentiment.
Other Challenges:

Better get back to work, so I can finish "the list".

I'm So Grateful...What About You?

Hello and Happy Saturday!
It's a three day weekend for us and today was a busy one, but I have done a bunch and the day isn't even over yet. I started with a walk at the park with my friend (we completed 3.7 miles), then I did some shopping (groceries and craft supplies). Michaels had a 60% off coupon, so I found a Tim Holtz alcohol ink kit to try.  Couldn't beat that deal! Joann had two 50% off coupons and Hobby Lobby always has a 40% off coupon. Hubby and I also went to lunch since we still have some certificates from Christmas we need to use before they expire.

Once I got home I started some laundry and then hid in my craft room. Well, I didn't really hide. Everyone knows where I go! : )

Today's project...
Resist Technique using Color Burst. I watched a video by Ken Oliver demonstrating how he uses his powders and I gave it a try. I tried to stay away from blue and pink so I pulled out crimson, orange, yellow, green, and violet.

The flower stamp (Doodle Flowers) is by Inkadinkadoo, the sentiment (Thanks so Very Much set) is by My Favorite Things, the butterfly stamp (SC Designs) was a freebie from a card magazine (Cardmaking & Papercraft), and everything was heat embossed with white Zing powder.

The cardstock for each base is by My Favorite Things and the enamel dots are by Teresa Collins. I cut the watercolor paper with a Wonky Stitches die by Avery Elle on my Cuttlebug.
Hope you are able to try something new. I am grateful to have a long weekend and can explore. How about you? Do you have MLK Day off? What are your plans?

Whatever you decide to do, enjoy!

Happy Bee-day at Sunny Day Crafting

Hello Crafty Friends!

Today I am sharing as a new Design Team member at Sunny Day Crafting. I am a floater, so I can create and post as my schedule allows which is stress-free. Thanks Janis for allowing me to participate! I sure am enjoying being able to craft again!

This Week's Challenge...
~ B is for Bumble Bee ~

Here is my Design Team project...
I pulled up all my bee svg files and this one made me smile with the little hearts on his feet. He is by Treasure Box Designs and it is still available.

I used the following sketch from Feeling Sketchy. I did have to move the sentiment to the lower right corner because of the size of that stamp, but the over-all layout is the same.

I cut the bee on my Cameo and layering the pieces were easy.
Hope you will join us at Sunny Day Crafting this week for our "Bumble Beechallenge. Be sure to check out the other crafters. No need to worry about getting stung, These bees are all too cute!

Flying By Penguin at Die Cuttin' Divas

Happy Tuesday All!
Welcome back to Carson's Creations and thanks for visiting!

Today I am sharing the new challenge at Die Cuttin' Divas. I hope you will join us this week since there are so many different types of cute penguins.

This Week's Challenge...
~ Penguins ~

Here is my Design Team project...
I have had this flying penguin in my svg library collection for quite some time, but never used him. I figured this challenge would be the opportunity to cut him out and create a card.  I decided to pull from the scrap drawer and use up some of those paper pieces.

The Air Force penguin is by KaDoodle Bug Designs (it is still in the store and he is on sale for 80% off) and the stamped sentiment is by Jaded Blossom ~ Up Up and Away set.
Hope you will join us at Die Cuttin' Divas this week for our "Penguinschallenge. Be sure to check out the other divas. Every one used a different penguin and they are ALL so cute!

It's All About You with Color Burst

Wanted to post the cards I worked on today before going to bed, especially since I have to get up in the morning for school. I am ready for a full week of learning and hope the students make lots of growth on their iReady diagnostic testing.

After chatting with Theresa last night, I decided I wanted to pull out my Color Burst by Ken Oliver and try using them again since it has been a while. I Googled a couple videos and found one that I thought was worth exploring...Learning How to Spritz and Sprinkle.

For the following cards I used the spritz and sprinkle techniques. After practicing for a while, I definitely favored the Sprinkle first technique. I sure did make a mess the first 5 or 6 times, but then figured out how much powder and spritzing was needed for the effect I wanted.

Today's project...
I primarily used the colors: Alizarin Crimson, Violet, and Ultramarine Blue (with a touch of Merlot). I had a MFT cardboard box which was perfect for the watercolor paper, powders, and mini spritzers. The box contained the micro-fine powder from flying all over my craft area.

I used MFT Blueprints 11 and 20 for the scallops and rectangle layers.

I used the MFT You Trio die set and All About You stamp set for the sentiments. A water brush and paper towel created the discolored circles. A few sequins were scattered on each card.
Other Materials:
white and purple card stock
MFT ~ Essential Fishtail Sentence Strips
Tim Holtz oxide ink ~ wilted violet

I am hoping to try a Resist Technique with the Color Burst and use some different colors (I noticed a lot of pink and blues lately, so maybe it is time for some yellow, orange, and/or green). Be sure to come back a few times this week to see even more at Carson's Creations.

Wishing you a wonderful week.

Celebrate with a Cover-Up

Hello Everyone,
I woke up super early this morning after hearing the dog "sleep bark" then snore. She must have been in a deep sleep because she didn't budge when I left the bedroom. I tiptoed to the other side of the house to my craft room and decided to log on to some blogs and message some crafty friends. To my surprise Theresa was up and we made plans to chat tonight since she needed to get to bed (I told you I was up early). I pulled out my oxide inks and starting thinking about what to make. I really wanted to make a birthday card using the celebrate die.

Today's project...
I applied worn lipstick and broken china to white cardstock with a round blending tool. I did mist the page and dabbed it with a paper towel. Then I found my MFT chunky chevron cover-up. I thought it would be neat to let some color pop through the cut-out pieces and a have few white chunks scattered around.

The balloons were sitting on my desk from last week and I figured I needed to use my stash rather throw them away. I added white craft thread this time instead of black.

I took the two oxide inks and blended the colors on another piece of white cardstock. I ran the celebrate die through my Cuttlebug and adhered it to some white craft foam for dimension. There is some sparkle (Wink of Stella) that you can barely see in the photo on the letters.
Looking forward to trying some other techniques with these inks. I still have another half of the video I started to watch the other day.  Hope to find something new to try. If you can recommend a few videos, I would be very appreciative!!!

Georgiana
