Tip Tuesday at Creative Cutter Room

Hello Fellow Crafters,

Today is my opportunity to share a crafting tip with you at Creative Cutter Room. I decided to share how to use a 12 X 12 double sided sheet of pattern paper and not have any scraps left. I have the tendency to use only a portion of the paper and then add the remaining pieces to the box to hardly ever get used again. Do you do that too?

Here is a way to prevent that from happening.

Scrap Prevention

Select one piece of 12 X 12 double sided pattern paper.
Use both sides to layer 2 or 3 card bases. Shown above on the left.
Use the remaining small pieces to make 3 X 3 cards.
I cut strips and rectangles to create the smaller cards. I also used a strip for the envelope (as seen in the background) and the inside of one of the 3 x 3 cards.

ALL the paper has been used! There are NO scraps!

Now the cards can be decorated to fit the next challenge or just to have ready for that last minute birthday card you may need.

Exploring Cricut Day with Hello Kitty

Hello,

I seem to be running a little behind today, but I am pleased to say that I have lots of my lesson plans done for this upcoming week. I woke up early and have been planning lots of new activities for many subjects. Since I haven't taught 4th grade in many years and the materials are also new, I have to coordinate the lessons with the current skills. I think it is going to be a productive week with lots of learning. I am hoping that after the next week I should be comfortable with the new program and lessons will be going smoothly, so I can return to crafting on a regular basis.

Today's Exploring Cricut card was created for a special little girl. She adores Hello Kitty, but who doesn't?!?! I think she is going to like it since it has been personalized with her name and the pink background paper is embossed. Kids just love the feel of that raised paper.
Materials:
Hello Kitty cartridge ~ p. 30 ~ cut at 3 3/4"
Wild Card cartridge ~ present (p. 62) cut at 2"
pink, black, and white card stock
black ribbon
paisley ribbon
black gems
Spellbinders ~ Fancy Tags
paisley embossing folder

Hope you have a great weekend,
Georgiana

Time for Kids to Go to School

Hello Crafty Friends,

I remember as I was growing up I had to ride the bus (If I recall, it was called the yellow shame train) until my Junior/Senior year in high school. Then it was all about "finding a ride". I surely didn't like the bus ride to and from school and my children have not been very fond of the idea either. My daughter has not had to ride the bus (except on field trips and the first time she did there was an accident...a car ran into the back of the bus at a red light).  My son was on a bus home when there was a fight (my son was not involved) and law enforcement had to be called to intervene. So many terrible experiences!

Although I have lots of other bus stories, I will share my card instead. It is much more pleasurable.
Materials:
yellow, red, white, and black card stock
plaid paper from scrap box
letters pattern paper ~ Momenta paper pad
Locker Talk Cricut cartridge ~ bus
red buttons
yellow embroidery floss
vellum title by Colorbok family quotes

Challenges:
2 Sisters Challenge ~ sketch (missed deadline for Anything Goes)
What bus experiences do you have?

It's a Girl

Hello Crafty Friends and Cricut Users,

Today is my Exploring Cricut Design Team day. I created this pretty in pink baby card for a friend (my Pampered Chef party buddy*) who is attending a baby shower today. Her very dear friend is due in less than 6 weeks and she looks so good (I saw her at training the other day.). Wishing her the best of luck!
The pearls and lace add that sweet, delicate touch that a new baby girl deserves.
Materials:
My Mind's Eye paper ~ Madison Ave
Elegant Edges Cricut cartridge ~ Butterfly2 (p. 51) cut at 4" and 3 3/4"
Wild Card Cricut cartridge ~ Rattle (p. 76) cut at 6 1/2"
Potpourri Basket Cricut cartridge ~ title (p. 33) cut at 3/4"
pink lace
pearls

Be sure to stop by Exploring Cricut on Monday for the new challenge and the design team's inspiration (the prize will be posted on Sunday).

* Quick Note...I took 32 cards to the Pampered Chef Party and sold 17 of them. Not too bad!

Three Gifts for Your Birthday

Good Morning Crafty Friends,

Wow!
What a busy week it has been. I had to head back for training earlier this week for three days, so my crafting was neglected. That was a bummer! I have been working on preparing for a new school year in a new grade level, with new materials, and new standards. Yikes...not feeling a little pressure to perform! I am also reading a book by Ron Clark called The End of Molasses Classes. It is definitely a fun read.

I do want to say thank you for all the Cricut/Provo Craft comments. I haven't had the opportunity to say I appreciate the feedback. It seems most of the problems stem from the newer machines (I still have the original Expression) and the policies to monopolize the industry. Thank you again! It sure helped me understand.

Since I haven't been crafting much this past week, that also means I haven't had the opportuntity to enter any challenges. Well, that just had to change! I made time and stayed up late to combine a few challenges.

Here is my project...

Materials:
My Mind's eye paper ~ Darling Dear stack
white card stock
Birthday Bash Cricut cartridge ~ gifts (p. 43) cut at 2 3/4"
Elegant Edges ~ scallops (p. 48) cut at 3 1/4"
Swiss Dots embossing folder
buttons (yellow, red, and blue)
white embroidery floss
yellow liquid pearls
happy birthday (wood mount) stamp
black ink

Challenges:

Today I plan on staying busy with crafting (and cleaning house in between projects). I have three different card orders to work on, so I have plenty to do! Plus, I have a bunch more challenges to enter still!

Thanks for stopping by. I will be hopping on over shortly to see what you have been working on too. I don't want to miss out on anything!

I sure hope there is enough time in the day to do EVERYTHING!

Hope you have a great day and enjoy your weekend,
Stay Creative,
Georgiana

It's Your Day and Important Question

Good Morning Crafty Friends,

Today I am going to UNF to help my son move out of the dorms for 3 weeks (then he moves back into a different one for Fall semester). It is going to be his day...actually this is his weekend.

I started to make this card late last night and just finished it this morning. I decided to use my Spellbinders after reading about some unhappy people with Provo Craft/Cricut.

Let me share, then ask.
Black and white is always elegant, but the spalsh of blue makes it fun.
Pop dots create the dimension needed to add depth to distinguish the different layers.
The inside

Materials:
My Mind's Eye paper ~ MeadowLark pad
blue, black and white card stock
Spellbinders ~ Parisian Motifs (2 cuts)
white lace
white and blue buttons
Birthday Bash Cricut cartridge ~It's Your Day!
black ink
Happy Birthday stamp

Now...onto my question(s)
I have been reading and came across some people that are unhappy with Provo Craft/Cricut. Why? I love my Cricut, but why are there so many dissatisfied people with the company? I have noticed people selling their Cricuts and all their cartridges. Is it becuase of the Rewards program? Them changing the policies on eBay in regards to selling the cartridges? Oh, I think I have been reading about the Cricut Circle too (never did that).

OR...is just becuase they want to try something new with all the new cutting machines?

I like to have input and comments would be appreciated.
I am just curious!
What better way to find out than to ask.

Thanks,
Georgiana

Flower Honor

Hello Crafty Friends,

Hoping you are having a great day. I decided to make a card today in honor of Diana's (DL.Art) birthday coming up (this one is not for her...that is a surprise still). Her favorite color is green, so I wanted to use that as the main color. The splash of orange is my daughter's favorite color. They do look good together.

I really like the Elegant Edges Cricut cartridge and I seem to overlook using it. There are so many options (see below) for layering and framing.
Materials:
Raspberry Road Designs paper
white and green cardstock
Elegant Edges Cricut cartridge~ oblong mat (p. 63) cut at 4 3/4 - 4"
Flower Shoppe Cricut cartridge ~ numerous cuts
green crinkle ribbon
orange, yellow, and green buttons
white brad

This weekend is going to be extremely busy. Kyle moves home from college for only 3 weeks, we set up for the Eagle Ceremony Saturday morning, the Pampered Chef party is Saturday afternoon, and Sunday is the Eagle Scout Ceremony. What a way to end summer vacation!

Time to get back into a routine!

Birthday Surprise and a Winner

Good Evening Crafty Friends,

Today was a busy day with getting food ordered for my son's Eagle Ceremony, which is this Sunday and getting new materials moved into my classroom. I did find some time when I came home to make a birthday card. You can never have enough, huh?
I used the layout from Tuesday Morning Sketches, but rotated the design 90 degrees.
The banner and birds are adhered with pop dots.
Inside sentiment...I like to use strips/scraps to coordinate the inside along with the envelopes.
Materials:
 My Mind's Eye paper
black cardstock
Birthday Bash Cricut cartridge ~ Surprise banner (p. 48) cut at 2 1/2"
black gems
Happy Birthday stamp
black ink

Important Announcement...
I also want to announce the winner for the 5 Months Till Christmas Hop.
Congratulations to cathyplus5!
Please send me an email (coachfans at cox dot net) with your mailing address, so I can get your surprise goodies out.
