Spring Brings the Easter Bunny

Today was another lovely day, so it put me in the mood to make some Spring holiday cards. I have been looking forward to making an Easter card after seeing a few while "hopping" around.

 

 I used the Doodlecharms cartridge for the bunny and the Easter basket (see below).

The scallop was cut from the Accent Essentials cartridge. 

The ribbon is Holiday Inspirations. Both the dots and the green ribbon sparkle.

 This bunny has the cutest look on his face.

I thought the chocolate bunnies were just too yummy to hide.

Let's Go Fishing for Birthday Wishes

Hello Again!

I have another card. This time I created a birthday card. One of the clerks at school asked if I could make her father a card for his 80th birthday and my first response was sure! Then I asked what does he like. She stated fishing, so I was lucky to find this paper in my stack and then the rest fell into place.

 The card base is kraft paper which was cut from the Wild Card cartridge at 4 1/2".

The frame was cut from the same cartridge (p. 66).

The pair of fish fits perfectly inside the frame.

I added gold gems for some sparkle.

Inside the card is a cream colored liner, the marsh, and the "Happy Birthday" sentiment.

I left some of the grass shoots unglued to add dimension. 

The sentiment is cut from kraft paper.

It's a Birthday Bash!

Hello Fellow Crafters. I hope you are enjoying your weekend.

What a fabulous morning it is. The boys are at a Boy Scouts' car wash for part of the day and my daughter is making her friend a card before heading over to another friend's house for a few hours. That leaves me to my cards. I find this time to be the best time since it is stress-free...no rules, no paper-work, no standards to follow...just creative time.

I made three birthday cards using the same cartridge (Birthday Bash) and the same basic colors. Just wanted to see what I could come up with. Inside each card it is stamped "Happy Birthday" in black ink.

 The bunny was cut at 3".

Foam dots were used to add dimension to bunny and present.

 The fox was cut at 4" and adhered with foam dots. 

"You Rock" was cut from Plantin Schoolbook at 1/2".

Here are the balloons before they were altered. I cut off the black cardstock strings, so I could add white craft thread.

The History of Technology

The challenge this week at Paper Playtime is Technology. I decided to create a 12 X 12 poster that I can use at school to discuss how technology has changed throughout time. It will be perfect to show the students when we discuss inventions that have changed our lives, compare and contrast how technology has evolved, and lastly, we can discuss the pros and cons of each. I think this will be a great visual aid for many of my students. 

Materials I used:

• Plantin Schoolbook cartridge ~ 1 1/4" letters for poster title and 1/2" or 3/4" for messages
• My World cartridge ~ 4" music and phones
• Wrap it Up cartridge ~ 2 1/4" game controller
• brown, white, black, and silver cardstock
• braiding cord and black gems for ipod headphones

Sweet on Pink, Blue, and Yellow

This morning my husband told me that I needed to make 5 cards. I am not sure where he came up with that number, but he knew I was feeling a bit blue this past week since I haven't been able to make any cards with the school responsibilities. It must be one for each day of the week. : )

This is my third project of the day. The first one will post tomorrow morning with the weekly Paper Playtime Challenge and the other card is below this post. It is a butterfly for Spring.

Materials I used:

• Heidi Grace (birdcage) paper, kraft cardstock, and Making Memories paper
• baby blue satin ribbon
• pink hearts

Butterfly Flutterby

I sure do love the Spring time weather we are having this weekend. It definitely puts you in the mood to do some gardening, watch the critters buzz from flower to flower, and for me...I just love to sit on the back patio and read. I ordered a new book from Amazon last night, so I can't wait till it arrives in a few days. I hope the weather stays this nice.   

 

Since this is Springy weather, I was glad to see a few related challenges. I was eager to make a new card since I felt like I was going thru card withdrawal. Here is my newest creation.

Happy Moments

My daughter will be participating in the Kid's Craft Blog Hop tomorrow which is being hosted by Jen at Purple Scrapbooker. She made a wonderful project and is offering a small prize. Please be sure to visit her tomorrow at One Creative Teen. I am very proud of my daughter for following through and being a part of a team. I hope you come back and enjoy the projects that all these children worked so hard on.

I have been very busy this past week with school (FCAT is only 8 weeks away), but I did make a card for the school secretary. It is her son and daughter-in-law's 2nd anniversary. When she saw the charm on the other birthday cards she said she wanted one too. I thought perfect because it gave me a chance to try again.

 I used Heidi Grace paper. The striped paper is neat because of the texture...it is like velvet. The inside reads Happy Anniversary.

I am looking forward to Sunday and Monday. They are my planned craft days. Yeah! I have a bunch of ideas already. I just need to put them all together. It is time for bed, so I can get up early in the morning and become "The Mad Crafter." I read a bunch of stories earlier today that my students wrote as a practice Demand Writes. It was about becoming a "Mad Scientist". What amazing stories they created! That was another happy moment!

Charms...How do you attach them?

I thought I would try adding a charm to the front of a card to add a little character. I have seen them on other people's card and thought how nice they look and I figured it couldn't be too difficult. Right?

The peace charm is hanging with cream colored craft thread and I used a little glue on the back, so it wouldn't move around too much. I attached three green brads in the center of the flowers.

I was asked by a co-worker to make two religious birthday cards, so I found a set of silver crosses to include. I wasn't really sure how to attach this silver cross charm, so I just tied it to the ribbon. I am definitely looking for suggestions! I want to use charms again, but I need to find some alternative ways.

 This silver cross was super easy to attach since I was able to feed it thru the ribbon punch slots. I like this way, but I still would love to know more.  

Please let me know if you have a suggestion. I am willing to try!

Although It's Winter I Want Flowers

The weather has been quite chilly again this week and I am definitely looking forward to Spring and all the blooming flowers. I thought since I haven't seen too many I would go buy some. I found these Spare Parts florals at Hobby Lobby on sale for 50% off, the purple daisies were at Michaels for 40% off with a coupon,  and Tuesday Morning had a box with 60 pieces for $1.99.

 I found some great deals on paper during the last week also. I think Michaels has marked down all their paper to make room for the new lines. Pads that were regular $19.99 were selling for $3.99 - $5.99. I even saw some packs for $1.99 - $2.99. Can you EVER have too much paper?!?!

 The above sentiment was cut from the Wild Card cartridge. I added brown brads and pink pearls. 

 This bird was cut from 7Gypsies paper, and I love that deep purple color. I happen to have brads to match his color, then the dainty florals were an extra touch. 

I had this ribbon and wanted to use those colors throughout the card. The florals match perfectly.

I have been visiting many new crafty friends this weekend and I am looking forward to seeing all your projects. Thanks for always coming back. I truly appreciate your kind words and I sure do enjoy keeping in touch.

Are You a Gator Fan?

Although I live in Florida and only 45 minutes from the University of Florida (UF), I decided to attend USF (Tampa). I have a co-worker that has a son who is a BIG Gator fan and his birthday is next week.

I made this card just for him.

 Yes, the school colors are orange and blue.

Cupid Loves You

Hello Everyone!

What a magnificent weekend we had with our Sweetheart Hop. I sure hope everyone enjoyed the projects. Those banners were amazing. I have never made one, but I think I am going to try now. All the cards were beautiful and Celeste's plate was stunning. So many creative ideas!

I will be adding 2 other prize packs for exceeding 415 followers and then I received over 100 comments instead of 75. Yeah!  All the the winners will be announced Tuesday morning.

Now I am putting on the crown for my Design Team role at Paper Playtime. There is a new challenge posted every Monday and the themes are wonderful. Everyone can participate.

This week's challenge at PaperPlaytime is to use Cupid or a Heart. 

I decided to make a set. One is pink and white and the other is black and white.

• Cupid (and shadow) is from the Sweetheart cartridge (p. 33).
• I added heart brads and pink gems.
• The black "Love" is from the Sweetheart cartridge also (p. 34) and the pink one is a cut-out. The pink swirl is form same cartridge (p. 77).

My first card used layered florals as the focal point with Bo Bunny printed paper as the background. There is a black flower brad in the center of the dainty pink petals.

This card below was a special treat (although it is not Valentine related, it is definitely filled with LOTS of LOVE) and I hope the couple that receives this has a beautiful wedding and a happy marriage. A co-worker asked me to make a wedding card after she showed me an invitation. I asked for a piece of the vellum that was included and then I thought how perfect it would be to have a personalized card.

This  card was created for a co-worker's grandkid for Valentine's Day. Can you tell the grandma thinks she is the sweetest? The name is sure to make the little one smile.

Scrapbooking Club ~ Session 3 and Funny Love Quotes by Kids

Today was an exciting day for the students...Yvette and I started Session 3. We had 23 students from grades 3 - 5 attend. There were lots of students that had been to a previous session, but we had quite a few new children. Next week we should have 3 more attending since they were not able to this afternoon. Unfortunately, we had to put about 6 students on a waiting list. We are hoping to have one last session before the end of the school year just for them.

Today's project was a Valentine's Mini Album. We did the first half today and next week we will complete the project.

I purchased these mini albums at Michaels for 80% off a dollar. What a great deal! I bought about 21 packs which was all they had. Since we had more students than expected we gave each student 4 pages instead of all 5. It actually worked out better with the amount of time we had. (We are still meeting 2:30 - 3:30 once a week.)

Students picked their paper from various colors and patterns, then traced the hearts, cut them out, and glued to album. We used a single hole punch for the ring.

Next Wednesday we plan on cutting out images on the Cricut, creating the frames for the pictures that the students bring, and adding lots of embellishments.

I can't wait to see the end results. Be sure to come back next week to see the final product! I know you will not be disappointed.

Welcome My Special Guest Designer

Thank you for visiting today. I have a FABULOUS treat for you. I would like to introduce Brenda.

Hi! My name is Brenda and my blog is Creativity is a State of Mind . I am a mother of three and a grandmother to two. I've been married to my best friend for 16 years. I have been scrapbooking for about 10 years and started cardmaking a few years ago. I got my first cricut for mother's day 3 years ago. It was the Create and I thought for sure that would do me just fine. This last June I upgraded to the Expression, LOL. I use DesignStudio, SCAL and now the Gypsy also. I am very honored that Georgiana has asked me to be a guest designer at Carson's Cricut Creations. Thank you so very much for having faith in me.
(I am so glad she agreed!)

Now onto my project.

I purchased a round foam shape at Michaels. I wanted a heart one, but they were all out of stock. Really? I had some red/white polka dot tissue paper lying around and knew that would be the perfect combination. I modpodged the tissue paper to the foam shape.

That went pretty quick. I did let it dry overnight and it became very hard and glossy. Love it.

Then I used my gypsy and just cut a lot of different shapes.

I used A Child's Year and Gypsy Font for my letters. Mixed and match them. I used Gypsy Wanderings, Paisley and Wedding Solutions for the other items. It was kind fun using a bunch of different carts at once. I normally only use one or two different carts at a time.

The banner was cut at 7.4 by 2.5 using white cardstock from the Wedding cart. I inked around it in red and then used a heart stamp I got from the dollar bin at Michaels to randomly stamp the hearts on it. I really like the way it turned out.

I added a lot of rhinestones here and there to give it some bling.  I love the bling, bling.  The 3 hearts pins I just added for some dimension. I have no idea where they came from but they came to good use.

I had this awesome ribbon that says "Happy Valentine's Day" and used just one section of it.
