Good Morning,
My daughter laughed at me when I started to make this card. She thought a paper doily on a card would look funny. After I showed her my "Love Potion" creation she stopped laughing and decided they were a neat embellishment to use.
Have you ever used a paper doily on your project? This was a first time (if I have used one before it was quite some time ago since these have been in my stash for at least a year) and I am still trying to figure out the best way to adhere them. I used a stick glue and it was all over my hands as I pressed down to get the creases out. Yuck! If you have tips, please let me know!
Materials:
Martha Stewart paper ~ In Key and Heart pad
white, cream, and black card stock
pink doily
Mini Monsters cartridge ~ princess (p. 47) cut at 2 1/2" and cauldron (p. 67) cut at 1"
Martha Stewart heart punch
Spellbinders lacey circles
white and pink heart ribbon
red heart button
senitment was computer generated
Challenges:
I used scraps for this card. I also have a box of die cuts that are collecting, so I decided it is time to use them. I am going to sort through them and try to incorporate a couple pieces each week. I used the tag for this card. I think it came from the Once Upon a Princess cartridge. I sure do like the design of the cut. I tried using a gel pen to add the white dots. I definitely need to practice with that pen, but I can see why so many people add faux stitching with it. It makes it "pop".
Exciting News...
I am pleased to be able to announce that I was selected to be a part of the Made Especially for You design Team. Our first challenge will begin Monday, February 6th. Looking forward to this opprotunity along with new challenges. Thanks Ashley!
Stay Creative,
Georgiana
What a cute "potion" card! The other card is very elegant. Congrats on getting chosen for the design team.
ReplyDeleteI use doilies occasionally on cards. I only put glue on the solid paper and I usually use my ATG. I let the lacy part of the doily remain loose.

ReplyDeleteI too would love some tips on adhering those doilies. I sure made a mess with mine. LOL
Your cards are great. I love that love potion.
Hee hee. So cute! I love that little witch (fairy?) cooking up some love potion for Valentine's Day. I never would have thought to use a doily either - but it totally works! Way to think outside the box! :)

ReplyDeleteWhat a cute card!!! Very fun way to use that witch- I never would have thought of it for a Valentines card- clever! :)Amy
ReplyDeleteBoth cards are great G! I love doilies. I've used them in scrapbooking, but I don't think on a card. I have a lot of scraps and lots of cutouts too, that I should try to use, but somehow they don't ever seem to fit the bill. I'll keep trying. Wow, congrats on the design team news! You're super woman!!--Pat
ReplyDeleteLove the potion card she is just an adorable witch.
ReplyDeleteGeorgiana congratulations on being chosen for the design team you will be a wonderful addition. Thanks so much for linking up your adorable card to my challenge this week. Genius using the witch and the sentiment! There is a little zip glue pen has ball point tip think I would try that for the doily. Have used them yet but they are on my to do list. Karen

ReplyDeleteI love your sweet little card! The doily looks fabulous! I've only ever used a doily once, and only adhered the middle with a touch of glue.
