Hello Everyone!
I am super happy to be back and share with you what has been happening during the past couple of weeks. My son finally moved into his new house (he bought it in February and all the renovations are now done), which allowed me to move into his bedroom. Of course, a major make over had to be completed, but we were waiting for school to get out for summer.
We took a trip to Ikea in Orlando to buy some furniture...fun! I also bought some more storage from Michaels since they had a Memorial Day day sale.
Deciding on a color was a challenge...it was either Crystalline Blue or Schoolboy Blue. After getting a sample from Lowes and putting it on a variety of walls that was covered in Cocoa (yes, that is a shade of brown not orange)...the Crystalline won (bottom color).
I had to be sure in the different lights and with the accent colors.
This is the room after being painted. I love the soft color.
The shelves were placed back on the hooks to see how they would look with the new blue walls before being repainted. Since I liked the black as an accent the shelves were touched up to cover the former neon green color.
Hubby replaced the floors after my daughter and I removed the old tiles. We had to buy a fancy heat gun to help remove the adhesive. This was no tool for heat embossing. The temperature was extremely HOT! We burned our fingers a few times...ouch!
Progress being made! Half the room is complete. I added my projects to the black shelves and then moved my cubes from my old area to its new location. I need to get four more kraft photo boxes to fill each space.
I placed storage units in the closet since I wanted the doors removed. We kept the top two shelves (but had removed some short ones from the right side).
The embellishment unit was ordered from Michaels for 50% off and the desk was created from Ikea furniture. There are two table tops, two Alex drawers and 4 table legs. The paper rack was a bargain I found at a yard sale months ago.
I need to add some pictures/shelves to the wall, fill the jars, pick up the window valance when it is ready, and organize some more "stuff" that is still in my old area, BUT I am loving my new space so far. I haven't made any DT projects in the past two weeks, so I am ready to get crafty again!
