Hello Crafty Friends,
Hard to believe this is the last weekend before going back to school on Tuesday. I sure have enjoyed summer, but wish I had another couple weeks to get a few more projects done (mainly birthday and thank you cards). Here are a few school projects that I have created during the last week.
I made 24 of these Granny Smith apple treat boxes (matches my class colors ~ click here to see pictures of my class).
This is a Lori Whitlock 3D treat box from the Silhouette on-line store. I made one previously at 5" (see here), but these are only 2 1/2". I added a yellow ribbon, a black button, and a white twine bow to each one. The stamp is from Jaded Blossom's School Rules stamp set. They each have 5 Starbursts, which represents 5th grade.
I made a new sign for the front of my class door. It was a black chalkboard plaque that I bought at Hobby Lobby. It was originally $4.49, but I used a 40% off coupon. Good deal! Save money to buy more!
First, I used an old white ink pad and a dauber to create the background. Then I cut out the letters (at 3") in the lime green and yellow polka dot paper using the Plantin Schoolbook Cricut cartridge. I hung the sign on my door yesterday when I stopped by school and it looks great!
The last project I made was for a friend. She is a new Reading Coach this year and she wants to give each of the teachers she will be working with a special treat. I created the chalkboard tags for her to attach to a hand sanitizer container. Once her husband found out I was making them he asked for some since he is a Reading Coach too but at a different school. I made a total of 60 tags!
I typed the sentiment in Word onto a chalkboard background (15 to a page), used a scalloped Spellbinder die and the Cuttlebug to cut each one, and inked the edges with that old white ink pad. Then I used a small hole punch to punch two holes in each tag. After that my daughter feed the twine through the holes. All my friend needs to do is tie each one on her hand sanitizer containers!
Challenges:
Now I have some clerical work I want to get done (name plates, Communication Logs, Folder Labels, etc.), so when we start Tuesday I can look at the new schedule and create my lesson plans. I am super excited about this new school year and I can't wait to meet all my students. I will be sure to keep you posted!
Enjoy your weekend!
Stay Creative,
Georgiana
