Hello Crafty Friends,
Welcome back for another Whimsical Wednesday.
Today we have a new challenge and for me I had to research what type of project I could create for altered art.
Why Create Altered Art?
Reason 1: Once you get the idea of looking at things to see if they can be changed (in appearance or use), it almost becomes a way of life.
Reason 2: It's a way to be green and recycle many things that might be relegated to the bin if you weren't there with your artist' vision.
Reason 3: It's inventive and creative.
Reason 4: You could make it a challenge to yourself not to buy anything new for a project, but to think about how you could use your current supplies to re-make something.
Here is my Design Team project...
A gift box for my daughter. She loves Betsy Johnson earrings and this box can fit a pair or two.
These are the supplies I started with before the transformation. That orange glitter mesh seems to be the newest fad. It is from the Scrapbook Expo and numerous booths carry the material.
This is a tissue paper flower. I found an awesome pictorial at Cassadiva. She also has a link to a video if you prefer to watch the flower being made on YouTube.
An orange glitter button in the middle.
A Whimsical Designs stamp to say you will have to wait...No Peeking!
Materials:
white gift box
orange glitter mesh
Orange and silver tissue paper
orange glitter button
orange ribbon
orange and white card stock
black ink
Now it is your turn. What are you going to make?
Here are some suggestions to help you get started...

You may also think of altering such things as:
Old or scratched CDs/DVDs
Matchboxes
Picture frames, old window frames (maybe to make them into newly decorated picture frames?)
Photos themselves. Use manual techniques or digital ones
Old post cards or greeting cards
Buckets and tins and flower pots
Mirrors
Shoes, purses, clothing. Alter them with beads or fabric paint perhaps
Old Crockery and cutlery. Broken crockery makes wonderful mosaics
Tissue boxes
Birdhouses
Empty plastic chocolate boxes
