Good Morning,
Although I live in Florida now, when I was younger and lived in Massachusetts I used to ice skate when the local ponds froze over or friends and I would go to the ice skating rink. I don't remember ever being very good at it (I liked roller skating much better!), but it was a popular winter sport. I am sure it had to do with the cold weather. I probably wouldn't stay out long enough to get good at it since I prefer warm places. What I do know, hot cocoa was and still is the perfect way to warm up.
Materials:
Colorbok paper
Joys of the Season cartridge ~ cup (p. 51) cut at 2 1/2"
Winter Woodland cartridge ~ skate (p. 51) cut at 1 3/4" and year cut at 1/2"
white glitter
brown gems
rust colored embroidery floss
Challenges:
I am glad my children have had the opportunity to try ice skating a few times. We have been to Ober Gatlinburg when they were younger, our city brought in a portable ice skating rink for the holidays a couple years ago, and we even went on a cruise that had a rink.
Have you ever been ice skating?
Stay Creative,
Georgiana
This is really cute!!! Love the ice skate on the front of the cup. I have never been ice skating. Love to watch it on TV though! :)
ReplyDeleteHi Georgiana, I'm your latest follower - found you when you visited my blog. Love your card.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic take on this week challenge. The colors are perfectly warm for a cold winter's day. PERFECT! I also love your blog. BEAUTIFUL!!! TFS and playing along wit our challenge this week at BBTB2!
ReplyDeleteClever to put the skate on the mug! What a fun card! I am with you- I do live in a cold weather area and hate the cold! I live for summer! :)Amy
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I agree that hot chocolate is perfect after skating.
ReplyDeleteNice card, G. Like how you combined those 2 challenges! I only ice skated once or twice. It was much harder than roller skating (at least for me) because you had only 1 blade vs. 4 wheels. I liked to roller skate much more!--Pat
ReplyDeleteAh yes, I remember the cocoa after skating when I was young, too. I'm also in Florida now and not missing the cold weather activities at all. Cute card and design combining the cocoa cup with the ice skate. Thanks for joining us at BBTB2.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love this card, Georgiana!! The papers are so pretty and I love the bow on the skate!! Ice skating is my fav sport...it was my dream to be an Olympic ice skater when I was young! My dad even built a little rink for my sister and I in the winter! But now I too, dislike cold weather!! Give me sun and sand I'm happy :)

I loved your story. I grew up as a roller skating kinda gal, I did ice skate once but knew right off it wasn't something I could do with grace. Love your card. Thanks so much for joining us at BBTB2.

Georgiana,
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card!
I did some ice skating, but didn't like the cold either. So I was a big roller skater, it was warmer! lol
Thanks for sharing your story and your card with us at BBTB2. I grew up on a lake in Michigan so I can so relate to skating and hot chocolate! Thanks for joining us this week.
ReplyDeleteLike the ice skating hot choc combo card. I like to ice skate. Took basic lessons when I moved to Central TX at an indoor rink inside a mall. Enjoyed it so much that when the basic lessons were over I signed up for & took basic jumps & spins.
