Did you know that Teacher Appreciation is this week? Since 1985, the National PTA established Teacher Appreciation Day as the first Tuesday of the first full week in May.
My husband and I went shopping today to buy goodies for all of his staff. He is a principal of an elementary school (not the one I work at) and wanted to buy treats for 80 employees to show how much he appreciates them (not just teachers but paraprofessionals, clerks, cafe, etc.).
First, we went to Walmart and bought 84 water bottles and 100 Grand candy bars. My daughter and I wrapped all the water bottles with school themed paper and then I made tags from the Preserves cartridge for each one.
Double-sided tape made attaching the strips quick and easy. I used the Ghandi quote that I had stamped on my student's FCAT postcards. I used royal blue craft thread to tie the tags.
My husband actually used the "crazy" scissors to cut all these tags himself. : )
Then we went to Michaels where we found a surprise deal. Individually wrapped soaps regularly $1.00 were on sale for 60 cents each (We had no idea until we checked out!) and then I had a coupon for another 15% off the total purchase.
My husband came up with the sentiment and we used pastel cardstock in the printer.
Here is my hubby. I told him I was taking his picture to show all my crafty friends. He says he doesn't understand why I enjoy crafting so much. He thought it was a tedious process that takes too long.
I sure hope all his teacher appreciate what he has done for them. Each day they will get a different treat. I told him I would. He seems to think it is because I did a bunch of the work. Actually, I think it is thoughtful!
Hoping you show some appreciation this week to someone who has inspired you or has a special place in your child's heart.
What clever ideas! How cool that your husband helped:)
