Alcohol Ink with Gold Foil

Hello Crafty Friends and Happy New Year's Eve,

Welcome back to Carson's Creations and thanks for stopping by today.
I received a few new alcohol ink colors for Christmas, so I decided to pull out the box and start using them again. My daughter and I had won some gold deco foil when we went the My Favorite Things holiday party and I thought this would be the perfect time to figure out how to use them together. The best way to learn...find a You Tube video!

I started by pulling out a few different shades of blue, my Tim Holtz Yupo paper, and then made sure I had plenty of the blending solution. After watching a few videos (listed below), I felt competent that I could give it a whirl.  Creating the background was fun and then I was thrilled when the gold foil worked. The key was making sure the alcohol ink was still tacky but not wet. Tip: make sure you rub the foil and never scratch.

The various MFT dies were cut from Recollections gold foil cardstock with my Cuttlebug. Next time Michaels has cardstock on sale I plan on picking up a few more stacks of the gold foil. The shimmer easily creates an elegant look.

I used a piece of yellow Bazzill cardstock for this next card base and then cut the matching THANKS letter with the other half of the paper. Looking for a different pop of color rather than the white base.
Here are a few You Tube videos that were beneficial:

Since creating these, I have ordered some alcohol lift ink from Amazon to give that a try. It is supposed to be here today; therefore, I can experiment tonight. Fun! Fun! Fun!

Be safe tonight while celebrating the New Year.

Celebrate with MFT Color Challenge

Hello Everyone!

Hard to believe it is already Sunday (I have to remind myself every morning what day it is while on break since I have the tendency to forget) and I head back to school on Wednesday. I am going to have to practice writing 2019, so I don't goof when signing forms during the first week. How long does it usually take you to adjust to the new date?

I have another card/challenge to share.

I used the following color palette from My Favorite Things.

This was the first time I used the Celebrate Speech Bubble...it's one of my new dies! I like the versatility with this die since you can use just the negative, create a shaker, or change the colors of the letters like I did. The stamped sentiment is from the MFT  "You Wow Me" stamp set. I added sequins (silver/teal) in the corners to match the challenge colors.

The scallop rectangle is from Blueprints 20 and the stitched rectangle is from Blueprints 24. I am bummed that MFT doesn't make as many Blueprints as they previously did. I don't have all of them, but I have quite a few. I like mixing and matching the metal die pieces to create a variety of layouts. They are super easy to cut too.

Other Challenges:
My Time to Craft ~ Something New (celebrate die and wow stamp set)

Enjoy your day!

THANKS ~ Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge

Hello Crafty Friends,

Happy Saturday!
Since my daughter and I have finished making holiday cards and tags for our Carson's Cards for Cancer fundraiser, I have been able to focus on other projects. I have been looking for challenges, but there are not to many right now since most design teams are on break until after the first of the year. I was fortunate to find a CAS (clean and simple) one that I liked. I am making a few more thank you cards for a teacher at school and I need to add some to my stash.

I used the following sketch from Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge.

The big THANKS die is by My Favorite Things and was cut with my Cuttlebug. I added a black shadow to the pink letters to match the trim and card base. The woodgrain paper is by My Mind's Eye ~ 6" x 6" Wood stack.

I have a few other projects that I have been working that I will be sharing during the next couple of days. Be sure to stop by often for lots of new projects. Can you believe it is almost 2019?!?!

Thanks a Sloth

Merry Christmas Eve,

Last night we went to my sister's house to celebrate Christmas since Denny has chemo treatment at 9am this morning. What a trooper! He looks good even with losing his hair (my hubby lost his hair years ago, so I have a thing for bald guys) and still has a sense of humor (except when it comes to all the nurses poking needles in him...ouch!). We gave Denny our "Jar of Love" with all of our donations that Kels and I raised. He was extremely grateful!
Thank you again for everyone's support!

I found the Doodlebug Design sloth on Silhouette Design Store and cut him out with my Cameo. The stamped sentiment is from Art Expressions ~ Sloth-some Set.

Sloths are a popular animal right now, so this was fun to create.
Thank you again for all your generosity!
Merry Christmas,

Carson's Cards for Cancer Update

Happy Saturday!

I wanted to share a post from Facebook...
Kelsey and I want to "THANK" everyone that has contributed to the Carson's Cards for Cancer. During the past week we have had an overwhelming response and we are truly appreciative for ALL the support. Our goal was to raise $707 (the co-pay for just one cancer medicine) and we are currently at $532.50. We are now making thank you (Kristen, I am working on yours) and New Years cards and we can make birthday cards/tags too. THANK YOU again! Denny's next treatment is Christmas Eve and we are planning to surprise him then. Hopefully this will add a little cheer to his day.

Here are a few of the most recent cards we have created...

Thank you again for all your support!

Thank You So Very Much

Hello Everyone and Happy Thursday,

Today is the first day of Winter Break and I have been up doing homework already. I know...it's vacation time and I can't stop. It is nice and quiet at home when everyone else is sleeping, so I can get more work done and in less time.

Kels and I have been working on our Carson's Cards for Cancer fundraiser for my BIL, Denny. So far we have raised almost $500 of the $707 goal. I was asked to make a bunch of thank you cards, so here are a couple. More to come!

I used the following sketch from Sunday Stamps.

The papers are from Pebbles ~ Family Ties stack and the stitched dies are from My Favorite Things. Twine was from the stash.

I added Thanks! from Craftin Desert Divas stamps above the MFT sentiment ~ Thanks So Very Much stamp set.
Other Challenges:

I need to make a dozen more thank you cards during the next week with a few holiday ones. Should be busy, especially since we haven't finished our Christmas shopping yet. How about you? What do you still need to finish up?

Be Merry with Nugget Holders

Hello Everyone,
The last couple of days have been quite productive since my daughter and I have been making projects for our Carson's Cards for Cancer fundraiser. We have made cards, tags, and candy treats. We are very appreciative for all the support that we have received so far and look forward to making more projects this weekend. My brother-in-law is going to be SUPER surprised when he hears all about our efforts!

Today's project...
I made Hershey nugget holders and the svg file came from My Scrap Chick. I used solid colored card stock for the nugget base and the candy wrappers are from a variety of paper that were cut with a Jaded Blossom die.

The red and green candies are milk chocolate and the blue ones are dark chocolate.

The tag and stamped sentiments are from My Craft Spot.
My daughter and I are going to My Favorite Things tomorrow for the holiday party. Looking forward to some crafty fun!

Gift Card Holder

Hello Everyone!
Today I am sharing the new challenge at Die Cuttin' Divas and Not Just Cards. This is an easy one to combine and it can actually be for any occasion.

This Week's Challenge...
~ Gift Card Holders at Die Cuttin Divas ~
~ Anything Goes at Not Just Cards ~

Here is my Design Team project...
It is a polar bear hug that I found at the Silhouette Design Store by JM Rush.

This was super easy to create. First, you cut the polar bear base/body and then the hat, mittens, and facial parts. All the pieces align nicely.

The gift card fits in the bottom pocket. A sentiment can be added if desired.

Hope you will join us at Die Cuttin' Divas this week for our "Gift Card Holders" challenge or at Not Just Cards since you can create anything you'd like.

Country Birthday Wishes to You

Hello Everyone and Happy Saturday!

Only another week-and-a-half to Winter Break, but my daughter is already home enjoying hers. She has been busy in the craft room, so I will be competing for the big chair during the next three weeks. That makes me happy to know she enjoys crafting too. When I woke up this morning I found  six of the cutest holiday tags that she made after I fell asleep last night.

I made this birthday card the other day and wanted to share before the Christmas projects start to dominate time and space. I really like how this one turned out. I actually surprised myself since I have not been through some of my supplies in quite a while. Time to change that!

The stamped sentiment is from My Favorite Things ~ Handwritten Happiness set. I used Versafine Onyx Black ink along with the Misti to get a nice, dark stamped image.

The canvas flower is from Poppies & Paperie Embellishment Co (Paper Studios) and the cream colored lace was in my stash. The wood grain paper is from Paper Studios (Hobby Lobby). I think they may have it in a couple different colors...I need to check for more.
Other Materials:
MFT Blueprints 20 ~ Scalloped rectangle
MFT Blueprints 24 ~ Stitched rectangle and fishtail pennant
kraft, cream, and teal cardstock
pearls

Happy Hanukkah

Hello Crafty Friends,

Hanukkah began last night, so I wanted to make sure I included my friends that celebrate.

What is Hanukkah?

Hanukkah, which is Hebrew for “dedication,” is the Festival of Lights.
It commemorates the victory of the Maccabees over the Syrian Greek army, and the subsequent miracle of rededicating the Holy Temple in Jerusalem and restoring its menorah, or lamp.
The miracle of Hanukkah is that only one vial of oil was found with just enough oil to illuminate the Temple lamp for one day, and yet it lasted for eight full days.
I used an svg file from Too Cute By Jessica. Unfortunately, the site has closed but there are some files still available through Etsy or Scrappy Dew.

A variety of blue cardstock fill the letters.

The background layers are MFT dies ~ Blueprint 20 and 24. I didn't want this corner to be empty, so I added a few blue pearls.
Hope you enjoy your week. We have 2 1/2 weeks till Winter Break, and it is going to be extremely busy every day at school.

Georgiana

Snow Bunny

Happy Sunday,

This morning my hubby and I went to get our pictures taken as part of a fundraiser for my brother-in-law who was just diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma. My wonderful niece and her best friend organized the entire event to raise money to go toward his treatment. It was a bit cloudy and windy, but who cares! It was all for a good cause. We did take the dog to the farm and she had a good time checking out the cows. I am thinking about organizing a card drive and then donate the money to his treatment. Has anyone ever done that? If so, please give me input!

Today's project...
I have finally started the holiday cards. If I am going to do this card drive I better put it into overdrive and start producing more cuties like this one.

This Snow Bunny was a freebie at Treasure Box Designs but has since moved to the winter collection. All his edges were inked with a Distress Oxide ~ black soot.

The Merry Christmas is a MFT die which was cut with my Cuttlebug. I think the pink "pops" on the blue and it brings out the bunny's cute little nose.
Challenges:

Off to make some other projects. Please don't forget...feel free to tell me your thoughts about organizing a card drive!

Georgiana

Birthday Raccoon

Happy Saturday!
Can you believe it is December 1st already?!?! I've been super busy this past week making a variety of projects, so I am looking forward to sharing. I did a little online shopping during the Black Friday sales, which is exciting since I now have some new stamps/supplies. I don't even have to wait till Christmas to use them since I used birthday gift certificates. Also, I signed my daughter and I up for the My Favorite Things Christmas Party on the 15th...fun! fun! fun!

Today's project...
I made this sweet birthday card for a one year old.The pattern papers are from a MFT 6" x 6" paper stack ~ Hearts and Stripes. I did stamp the inside with Distress Oxide Black Soot...Look who's one!

I used the following layout for my card from Stella Says Sketch.

The Miss Kate Cuttable raccoon was cut with my Cameo. I did not use the hat or scarf that was included since it was for a special occasion and not the current season. There are 4 layers which align very nicely for assembly. The present was a svg files found in my collection.
Enjoy your Saturday whether you are shopping, crafting, or relaxing. My hubby is watching college football, so I am going to work on laundry and a few more projects. I haven't joined any challenges lately; therefore, it is time to find a few.

Georgiana
