Hello...Anything Goes at Die Cuttin' Divas

Hello Everyone!

Happy Tuesday! Sorry to be posting a little late today. My daughter and I toured the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, which was the first of three college visits this summer. She is going to be a Senior in the Fall and we are starting that process of where to go. Our next tour is in two week and we will be going to University of Florida in Gainesville.

Even though I am a little late... I am still sharing the new challenge at Die Cuttin' Divas. Hope you will join us this week!

This Week's Challenge...
Anything Goes...the absolute best since you can show your creativity!

Here is my Design Team project...
I saw a sketch that was similar to this, but I changed it slightly.

I have been wanting to use this floral pattern paper, but wasn't sure when or how (thought it might be to dark for summer) and when I received this Rouge 3 Girl JAM ribbon (Victorian Dream Bundle) I knew I could make it work. I found the big pink flower from Hobby Lobby in my stash. The flag was cut with a We R Memory Keepers die and stamped with a Bo Bunny stamp.

Then I added tiny pink gems to all the flowers on the paper to make it sparkle.
Hope you will join us at Die Cuttin' Divas this week for our "Anything Goeschallenge. The other design team members have created a wide variety of projects. Be sure to check them out today!

Thanks for stopping by!

More Die-Cut Negatives with Watercolors, Pt 2

Hello Everyone!

Happy Monday! It is hard to believe it is the end of June and July will be upon us in just a couple days. Although it is raining here, it has been a marvelous day. My daughter and I ran a few errands this morning and one stop was Hobby Lobby so I could us a gift card I received at the end of the school year. I chose a few Spare Parts embellishments on sale for 50% off and I let my daughter pick out a package of my new favorite...Ranger Distress Inks mini pads. : ) I also found a small, but fun storage case to hold them (see below).

Today's project is a continuation from yesterday...die-cut negatives with watercolors. I wanted to have a couple thank you cards in my stash and I used two other color inks.
First, I used the Wild Card Cricut cartridge to cut out Thanks. Then I used dusty concord and spiced marmalade inks to create the watercolor backgrounds/splatter.

I found a piece of dark purple card stock in my scrap box to use for the back layer. Butterflies and sequins were added for a bit of pizzazz.

When we returned home we decided we better look to see what colors I have and what colors I still need...I don't want any more duplicates if it can be avoided. I found this color chart on-line and printed a copy for my binder. Easy to check off and search for future colors. I already know I want mowed lawn, salty ocean, festive berries, and a few others!

Here is the Tim Holtz storage container I bought. It holds 12 mini pads, and I only have 8 so far (I also have 8 large pads). I did see another package I wanted, so it will be full soon! How do you store your ink pads? How many do you have?

Die-Cut Negatives with Watercolors, Pt 1

Hello Crafty Friends,

Welcome back and thanks for stopping by at Carson's Creations again. I have been fortunate to have some extra time during the last couple days (no training, no yard work, only a little laundry, etc.), so I have been able to get crafty! I have been wanting to try so many different techniques and honestly...I forget what they are since I have seen so many fabulous projects. Well, I decided to start a list and cross off each technique or style as I try. Here is one that can now be crossed off! Yippee!

My project that I am sharing today consists of die-cut negatives and watercolors.
First, I used the Birthday Bash Cricut cartridge to cut out the sentiment at 8".

Then using Strathmore watercolor paper and Ranger Distress Inks I created the background. I used peacock feathers and mustard seed ink colors. Once it dried I decided to splatter some ink on the top. A couple yellow enamel dots and a present sticker to finish it.

On this next card I used the die-cut from the above negative, but changed the ink colors. I used Ranger picked raspberry, spiced marmalade, and mustard seed inks.

White sequins with a pink tint and another present sticker sit on top of a Swiss Dot embossed frame.

Have you tried using watercolors? What is your favorite technique? Do you prefer inks, paints, or pencils? I am not done learning, so if you have a recommendation, please share! Be sure to come back tomorrow for Part 2.

3 Girl JAM July Challenge ~ Anything Goes with Ribbon

Hello Everyone!
Welcome back to Carson's Creations and thanks for stopping by! Today I am sharing a new 3 Girl JAM monthly challenge with hopes that you will join us.

This Month's Challenge...
Anything Goes with Ribbon
What an opportunity...create any type of project with any type of ribbon and link it up for a chance to win a $15 gift certificate to the 3 Girl JAM store.

Here is my Design Team project...
I created a treat box with a scallop flap. The Silhouette Design Store favor box (Design ID #37556 ) is by Lori Whitlock. It is one cut (I used my Cameo) with all the lines scored...easy to fold and adhere. The front flap tucks in and re-opens, so you can get your treat inside.

I used  3 Girl JAM Raspberry crinkle ribbon from the Summer Harvest bundle. Little green flowers and raspberry gems match the DCWV Cherry Limeade paper nicely.

The stamped sentiment on the tag and candies are both from Jaded Blossom. The stamp set is called Craft On. I had to tell my daughter what RAK stood for...she had no idea it meant Random Act of Kindness.

SPECIAL NOTE:  When you place an order in July, you can add the Summer Harvest bundle for just $1! Use coupon code July to get this great deal at 3 Girl JAM!

Hope you will join us at 3 Girl JAM with your newest "Anything Goes with Ribbon" project. Can't wait to see what you create!

Anything Goes at Pause Dream Enjoy Linky Party

Hello Crafty Friends,

Today is a FABULOUS Friday since I have MORE thrilling news...I will be joining the Pause Dream Enjoy Linky Party Design Team with Janis. Yippee! Today is our first challenge since returning from a break and I am so grateful to be able to share with you. Now I hope you will be able to join us each week on Fridays because Janis has some awesome themes planned.

This Week's Challenge...
Anything Goes
I have recently become more eager to get into stamping. I really like this stamp (by Inkadinkado) with the flourish and fun font as the focal point on the popped up tag.

I used the following sketch from Deconstructed Sketch...it happens to be the last one. So sad to see another sketch challenge site fade away.

The 3 Girl JAM ribbon is Sunshine from the Sunny Meadows bundle. It has been one of my favorites since it was released last month. A red flower button and white embroidery floss were added to the center. The hearts were cut with MFT Blueprints#15.

I did not color the letters since I created an ink color to match the background paper, but I am thinking I should try it again in black and use some vibrant markers for a splash of pizzazz. Now...would you keep it plain or add a pop of color? Just curious!

Hope you will join us at Pause Dream Enjoy Linky Party this week for our "Anything Goeschallenge. The other design team members have a variety of projects, so be sure to check them out today!

DoubleClick Skittles Announcement, Craft Room Challenge, and Blog Hop

Hello Crafty Friends,

Welcome back to Carson's Creations! I have some EXCITING news to share today. I am joining Carri at DoubleClick Skittles once again to be a part of her amazing Design Team. We will be showcasing her Skittles embellishments while offering a challenge that you can join each week.
Today we are sharing our craft area. I do not have a "closed" room since both my kids still live at home, but I have an area that I have claimed in the house where I create my magic (or make a mess in some cases).

This is my craft table which holds both my Cricut Expression and Cameo (it is actually a shoe rack, but it fits my needs perfectly).  I have a carousel to the left that holds tools like chalk and watercolor pencils, glue pens, white jelly roll pens, and scissors.

The side wall has two large storage shelves that hold boxes of some of my supplies. The boxes contain stamps, twine, flowers, Spellbinders. embossing folders, and a couple are holiday specific. The plastic bins contains my buttons, sequins, gems, and skittles. Next to them is a smaller shelf where my daughter's sewing machine rest...yes, like RIP...she never uses it! I should, but I have a heck of time changing the thread to a different color each time. I should try and practice...I know I would get quick at it...but it will RIP for now!

The opposite side of the room is my computer desk, but I have shelves on each side. To the left is some of my paper and card bases (along with a display of a few projects).

To the right are my ribbon racks, Cricut cartridges, stickers, and more paper (not shown below).

Next to my table is the last storage piece...a rolling cart that holds more ribbon, gems, craft thread, blades, and punches. Oh yeah...and my bucket of scrap paper just sits next to me so I can have it readily available.

Although I don't have a craft room I have made use of the space I do have.

Happy Father's Day

Hello!
Welcome Back to Carson's Creations and thanks for stopping by today.

Just a quick post to share a Father's Day card I made for my hubby. He and my daughter went to Universal Studios last night for the Goo Goo Dolls concert, which gave me a little extra time to make a quick card for him. I think my daughter was quite surprised since I usually tell her she must make her own.

I like to buy him ties since they are so colorful and there is always such a great selection. A card with lots of ties seemed to be the way to go.

I made a pocket on the front (hubby didn't even realize the tag was removable).

The "#1 Dad" svg file is from Miss Kate Cuttables.

I found this stamp in my collection. It is amazing what you find when you clean and organize.
Other Materials:
Jillibean pattern paper
blue, yellow, red, and white card stock
red crinkle ribbon ~ 3 Girl JAM
red pearls
Ranger Archival Ink ~ Cobalt blue

We also went out to the movies this afternoon to see Jurassic World (hubby's choice) and then we went to Sears so he could buy a new tool chest. He is a man who loves his tools (I surely can not complain since I love my paper and craft supplies)!

Exciting news coming this week, so please stop by again!

Georgiana

It's a Minion Birthday!

Hello Everyone,

Today I am sharing a Minion birthday card and this Minion is no different than any others...he loves bananas! He even had to have a banana balloon to help celebrate!

I received the minion as part of the SVG Cutting Files and Jaded Blossom Hop last weekend. Such fun! The card base was cut from Campin' Critters Cricut cartridge (p. 31).

The stamped sentiment is from Scrappy Moms ~ More Mini Messages set.
Other Materials:
yellow, black, white, blue, brown, and grey card stock
pattern paper from scrapbox (I think it is Cricut paper)
We R Memory Keepers flag die
Versafine Onyx Black ink
blue ink for edges
white craft thread

Challenges:

I have Math training today...hoping to learn something new for the upcoming school year. Haven't even left yet, but I can't wait to get home because I have more projects I want to work on! I dabbled with the water color pencils last night but need more time, and I have some MFT Blueprints I want to cut.

Smoking Hot Birthday

Hello Crafty Friends,

Welcome back to Carson's Creations and thanks for stopping by today. I appreciate the kind words and wonderful comments that have been shared recently. I've been thinking about doing a variety of projects (more than cards) and using different products after visiting many other creative blogs, so today begins exploration time. I went to Michaels this morning and bought some watercolor pencils. I am looking for a few markers next...need to find out what would be good for a beginner...Rangers, Spectrum...Any suggestions? Then I need to search what else is popular right now. I finally have time to try more! Don't worry Karen...I have the stencils on the top of my list!

Today, I am sharing this tag I made for the Jaded Blossom Summer Challenge.
The tag was cut on my Cameo...it measures about 5" x 3".

BBQ spatula and fork for summer grilling

BBQ svg set is from Miss Kate Cuttables

I went through my Jaded Blossom stamps and found this one as part of the Knight Bites set (these stamps are extremely versatile). It's still available in the store.
Other Materials:
white, silver, black, red, and grey card stock
pattern paper (DCWV and Paper Studio)
red tulle
black ribbon
black pearls
Versafine Onyx Black ink

Time to play with my stencil and these watercolor pencils, but not necessary together! Then off to visit some more crafty friends to see what else they have shared.

Georgiana
