 I wanted the sentiment over the monkey's head, so it looked like he was throwing it up in the air. The edges of the Spellbinder and the grass were inked in brown.

I added the butterflies to make it more whimsical.

Dreaming of Disney Challenge at Exploring Cricut

Hello Crafty Friends and Cricut Lovers,

Today happens to be a Marvelous Monday. It is not because I only have one week of summer vacation left or I can't stop saying...

M-I-C-K-E-Y M-O-U-S-E.

Actually, the reason is because there is a new challenge at Exploring Cricut.

Here is my Exploring Cricut project...

We use to have Disney passes when the kids were younger and we visited all the parks (except the water ones). My favorite was Epcot since I could travel to all the countries around the world and never had to leave Florida. There would be characters at all the parks and we worked hard to get as many autographs as we could.

Thanks for Using Docerela's Sketch

Hello Crafty Friends,

I found a challenge to work on and I am quite pleased I was able to use some of the new paper I received from my papercrafting magazine. The sketch (see below) is from Docerela Creations. She has some neat stamp sets and they apply to the paper very nicely. I purchased Summertime and won Mix and Match III in the past. I sure hope I can win a new set!   

The butterfly wings appear to be fluttering and the Lacey Circle is adhered with pop dots.

This morning I shared a layout for Exploring Cricut, and last night I shared a cute elephant card for Little Scrap Pieces. Now I have a card for numerous challenges.   I am thrilled since I haven't had the opportunity to enter too many recently.

Happy Trails at the Horse Ranch

Good Morning Crafty Friends,

Today is my Exploring Cricut Design Team day. I decided to create a layout rather than a card and I used some pictures I had printed out about two - three weeks ago. Do you have tons of pictures saved on your computer and never do anything with them? Well...that is me! I decided it is time to start selecting, printing, creating, and sharing. The family seems to enjoy them too, especially sinced they don't have to do any of the work!  :)

Happy Trails at Southern Cross Horse Ranch in Georgia.

Many years ago we found this "dude ranch" and have been back about 3 or 4 times. We like it because you get to ride twice a day for 2 hours at a time anywhere on the ranch. You can either ride on the trails or in the pasture. You can ride with a guide or without.

I am hoping to continue working on some more layouts. I like that you have a larger space to work with than a card. Now I want to get creative with a sketch and design of the layout. I have seen some challenges, but if you can recommend some I would appreciate it!

A Trunk Full of Happiness at Little Scrap Pieces

Hello Crafty Friends,

Karen from Little Scrap Pieces is a dear blogging friend and she asked for some guest designers, so I jumped at the opportunity to share. THANK YOU Karen for having me as a guest again!

Originally, I was going to use one of those bizarre holidays in July...have you seen the site? In July there was a lollipop day, cowboy day, moon day, Beatrix Potter day, and an ice cream day. I had plans to research all the days and create something unique. Then I got sick last week (that is why I haven't visited regularly) and couldn't do very much.

Within the last day or two, I have finally started feeling better and all these ideas are flowing again. Yeah! I decided to skip all those "holidays" and use Nate's ABCs Cricut cartridge. I flipped thru the booklet and this elephant stomped out. I couldn't resist!

 After sharing the final product with Karen, we decided the challenge this week would be... "Use an Animal".

 This is Karen's special ribbon. It is wonderful!

5 Months Till Christmas Hop

Hello Crafty Friends,

Today is the 25th of the month, which means we are counting down till Christmas. There are now 5 months until Santa visits. I have organized all my holiday cards in a Christmas storage box, so when November/December rolls around I will be be ready to address the envelopes and deliver. It should be a Happy Holiday!

I decided to start some holiday cards for my students. These are 3x3 minis. Each card is simple (but cute) since 9 - 10 years old are not extremely aware of the time it takes to create handmade crafts. Each card is stamped on the inside...Season's Greetings.

Back to School, Part III

Welcome Back Crafty Friends,

I hope your weekend is off to a great start. I appreciate you stopping by and checking out my school series. So far I have shared the WELCOME banner, a centerpiece, and the student cards.

Here is Day 3.

I created treat bags for each of the students using the same color scheme and the school mascot. Currently there are Smarties in each bag, but I am going to add a few other treats before the first day of school. I really want to get some Hershey kisses and add a school theme stamp to the bottom.

The 21 treat bags were cut from the Plantin Schoolbook Cricut cartridge at 5 1/4" using kraft paper. A few weeks ago I cut a variety of bags/boxes and this size was the most practical. 

I used the Picot Edge Circle Spellbinder just like I did on the pinwheels. The eagle was cut from the Wrap It Up Cricut cartridge. Each treat bag is closed with red raffia and a blue tag was glued to the handle to tie in the school colors.

I want to say Thank You to my children. My daughter helped cut out and emboss the Spellbinders, and my son even helped while he was home from college for the weekend by gluing the white circles on. Great team work!

Although I am not quite ready for school yet, I sure do feel good that I have a warm welcome planned for the parents and students. I have one other project planned, but I cannot complete it yet. I have a candy basket in my class that I need to retrieve when the custodians are done. I am going to decorate using the same theme. I will be sure to share once it is complete.

Back to School, Part II

Welcome Back Crafty Friends,

Thank you for stopping by yesterday to see my Back to School projects.

 Here is Day 2.

First, this is a picture of the my school. My class is on the top floor just above the horse. (You can see a little bit of the windows.) It has a great view of the tree and the students enjoy watching the squirrels chase one another.

For today's project, I used the outline of our school as inspiration. I found the perfect cut of a historic school on the Heritage Cricut cartridge. I cut out 23 schools (and shadows). I used Kraft paper and put it through the wave crimper, so it would match the banner.

 I made a banner for each card shaped just like yesterday's WELCOME sign. The banners were cut from the April Showers Cricut cartridge.

 I used an assembly line format to create these cards.

I made 21 cards so far (with two on hold) since our numbers are currently 19 - 20 students per class. There are 3 different sayings on the front...

Back to School, Part I

Hello Crafty Friends,

I hope you are all doing well. I have been enjoying my summer very much, but it is going to come to an end soon in a couple weeks. I actually have training the week of August 6th for a new program that I am piloting and then teachers report on August 13th. Students begin August 20th. I knew I could not go back to school without bringing a piece of my summer with me. I decided to share what I enjoy to do the most with my students, parents, and fellow teachers...crafting!

I have worked on Back to School projects for the past two weeks that I will be sharing during the next three days. I hope that you will feel inspired to create a project that you can share in your child's class or make for your students.

When my new students enter the classroom I want them to feel comfortable and at ease. I created this banner to hang above the doorway. (This was the first time I made a banner! I now want to make one for a teacher friend for her class.)

The colors are school colors and are used throughout all the projects. I used a raffia by Celebrate It Christmas that I happened to find in my stash to attach each pennant.

The banner pieces were cut from Birthday Bash (then I ran them through a wave crimper tool), the circles were cut from Elegant Edges at 5 1/2", and the letters were cut from Plantin Schoolbook at 3".

Once the students enter the classroom, they will need to sign in and collect important papers. I will have everything organized at a table along with a centerpiece.

I think the students will like these pinwheels. They were super easy to make (as shown above). The center was covered with a Picot Edge Circle.

 Our school is a historic 3 story building, our mascot is an eagle, I am teaching 4th grade this year, and our school name is Eighth Street. I filled the vase with white rock and blue gems (Dollar Tree) and tied a bow with raffia.

Pinwheel Flower and a Back to School Invitation

Hello Crafty Friends,

After creating holiday cards for the past couple days, I thought it would be fun to make a "summery" card with bright colors. Making pinwheels brings back memories of being a little girl and watching the wheels spin around super fast. I can remember blowing real hard so that wheel would just keep spinning and spinning. How fun!
