Most Recent Cards ~ Birthday and Thank You

The first week of school was a success, but I am still planning only a day or two at a time until I get to know my students. After another week or two, I will be able to plan more which will give me more time to create in the evenings. PLEASE forgive me for my lack of visiting/commenting. I will be able to soon! The beginning of the school year is always an adjustment period.

I was able to make a few cards during the past couple of days and I am looking forward to the holiday weekend, so I will have a longer stretch of time.

Here are my most recent cards. I had a teacher ask me for 10 birthday and 10 thank you cards...it's a start.
I based this card on the Card Patterns sketch of the week.

I tried a new glitter braiding cord.
I used the Blogger's Challenge (Tic-Tac-Toe) at Splendiferous Creations...buttons, die cut, and ribbon.

I love this paper! It is K&Company.
I hope you have a great week.

Welcome Back Students

Good Morning Everyone,

I have been super busy with getting ready for the first day of school, and I have to say it was quite successful. Yesterday all my students showed up and they are wonderful. As a special suprise I made each student a card and included a fabulous quote on the inside.

Our challenge at Die Cuttin Divas this week is to make a teacher themed card. I thought it would be better if the card came from me rather than make another card for a teacher. I already gave my teammates their cards and they loved them.
Here are all the cards. I used Locker Talk for the image, but used a variety of papers for the background. The image was cut at 3 1/4".
Inside quote:  “Learning is not attained by chance, it must be sought for with ardor and attended to with diligence.
I hope you will join us at Die Cuttin' Divas this week for the new challenge.

It's Time for Kids

Good Morning,

Welcome back for another Design Team project for the Die Cuttin' Diva's Weekly Card Challenge. This week's challenge was inspired by an event that occurs at this time of year and that is back to school. Who do you think of when you hear school? For me...I think about kids. Meet Your Teacher is this Friday, so I am looking forward to meeting my new students.
This is a tall card that fits inside a regular size business envelope.

Materials:
Bo Bunny paper
white, yellow, and brown cardstock
Everyday Paper Dolls cartridge ~ doll ~ 5"
Locker Talk cartridge ~ Back to School
pink glasses from Eyelet Outlet
wiggly eyes
pink and yellow polka dot ribbon
mini yellow buttons

I hope you will join us at Die Cuttin' Divas this week for the new challenge.

Celebrate! Pink Birthday Request

Hello!

This is the last weekend before teachers go back to school; therefore, I have been busy getting ready. Ran a few errands this morning, worked on my plan book this afternoon, and tonight I am going to start the cards for my students.

A friend asked me to make a birthday card with the color pink. She saw a cupcake card I made in the past and wanted a similar one. I hope she likes this one since I used a cake instead.

I made another, but used different colors. This one is just a little too funky with the gems and candles. I'll see if it grows on me.
Materials:
Artful Delight June kit ~ pink and yellow paper
Making Memories ~ Black and White pad
red and white cardstock
Celebrations cartridge ~ cake (p. 98) and Celebrate (p. 126)
ribbon
gems

 Challenges:

Have a great night.

A Fresh, New Look (and a Few Cards)

Hello!
I am glad you are stopping by since I have a new look. What do you think? I thought since it was a new school year, I would give my background a fresh, new look too. I like the bright center and the header has my favorite color still...brown.

I have been busy getting ready for school (teachers go back this Monday and students start the next week), but I did have time to create a few cards for a friend. There are a couple birthday and one is for a new FSU freshman student. Time to celebrate!

Just a reminder: Click on any of the photos to enlarge.

I have share...the purple and turquoise card has a flower that Tara from Homemade Happiness made. I love them felt flowers and the colors match the papers perfectly. Thanks Tara! I have another card planned using the royal blue flower you sent along with some lace. Oooh...can't wait to share. Thank you again!

Please don't forget the Die Cuttin' Diva challenge this week. Think of fruits and veggies. Don't these look scrumptious? Your cards will too!

Michelle has been extremely generous and donated a $25.00 gift certificate for one winner to her Designs on Cloud 9 store. THANK YOU Michelle for being so kind! We appreciate it!

What Will Your Day be Like? I Hope Grape!

Good Morning,

Welcome back for another Design Team project for the Die Cuttin' Diva's Weekly Card Challenge. This week's challenge was inspired by our host, Mistyrose's first garden, therefore, the challenge is fruits or vegetables.

I remember growing up picking wild blueberries and rasberries in the woods. We had wild rhubarb growing in the backyard and and we would peel and dip in sugar. Now that wasn't as sweet because I remember puckering up. My grandfather had citrus and peach trees in his yard. Now that brings back sweet memories! Mmmmm!
Materials:
Preserves cartridge ~ grapes
DCWV ~ Flower paper stack
purple metallic ribbon
purple gems
computer generated sentiment

I hope you will join us at Die Cuttin' Divas this week.

Whew! So glad you found your dog!! I know the feeling! We had a Boxer that used to jump our fence as well - it became a game (to her!) Your card is great! Thanks for sharing your firsts with us.

Ms. Scrappy send me an e-mail (coachfans at cox dot net) with your mailing address. I would really like to go to the post office tomorrow and mail this embossing folder, so you can start using it right away. : )

I also noticed I am only a few crafty friends away from 700, so another giveaway will be coming soon!
Yeah!
Time to get creative. I just received another order today for more Thank You and Birthday cards. Yippee! Oh, how I love to make cards!

Until next time,

Side Step Card for Neighbor...Can You Believe This?

Welcome Back for Day 3!
I am glad you have joined us this weekend for this amazing hop. Yvette has been celebrating her first blogoversary and we are all making "first" projects in her honor.
Today's card is a quick one because it has been hectic the past two days. First, (yes there is that word again) we thought our dog ran away on Friday. We went school shopping and when we came home she was gone. Now there is a story behind this, so I will keep it short. My daughter taught our dog to jump (She thought she could be on one of those dog shows for competition.). I know you are probably thinking there is nothing wrong with that. Well, she learned how to jump over our 4 foot gate in the backyard, so we (actually my husband and son) installed a 6 foot privacy fence last weekend. We thought problem solved. Wouldn't you?

As I was saying...we went school shopping for a few hours and when we returned she was gone! HOW?!?! After roaming the neighborhood for hours, calling animal service, knocking on neighbor's doors, doing lost dog tours...the next door neighbor came over with her. She caught her and she was in their kitchen. Yes, my daughter knocked on all the neighbor's doors except for that one. PHEW! The neighbor would not accept anything for "pet sitting", so...

I made a side step card (another new card I tried for the first time) for her and I am going to include a gift card for being so kind. This is the first time our dog has escaped from a 6 foot fence.  Can you just imagine?!?!
I used The Pet Pad from Recollections for the paper and images.

I found a template that was very helpful; therefore, I want to share. It is from Julie's Stamping Spot. She has written instructions at the top too.
If you are looking for a variety of folds that you are interested in trying, I found another site called Card Making Magic. There are about 4 or 5 new folds that I need to explore...the diamond top card, the springfold, the waterfall, and twisted easel. There are videos and pictures available. I am still going to make the tent card, but it will have to be later this afternoon. I will definitely post the first one I make.
Just a Reminder: There is Blog Candy.

I selected this embossing folder because it was the first time that I bought one that I already owned. Ooops! Please remember to leave your e-mail and blog address (if you have one). The winner will be announced Monday evening, Aug. 8th.
Be sure to visit Sherri now. She ALWAYS has amazing projects.
Thank you again for joining us this weekend. We hope you have found some new ideas to try. Be sure to come back and share what you have tried for the first time.

Happy First! What Will Be Your First?

Welcome Back for Day 2!

I am glad you are joining us today for this amazing hop. Yvette is celebrating her first blogoversary and we are all making "first" projects in her honor.
I know when you look at these cards you are probablly going to say..."Why are these first?" Well, let me tell you. : )
Both these cards were created using a kit I won at Artful Delight. This was the first time I used a kit and wow, it is helpful to have a variety of papers and embellishments already packaged together. The papers are my favorite part of the kit because they are double sided and there are so many colorful choices. Oh yeah, that red pleated ribbon is the BEST.

The second reason this is a first...I am sending the top card to a former student who is now in college. : ) This will be the first time I send a a former student a card. She wrote me a message the other day and asked..."Mrs. Carson, What do I have to do to get one of your cards?" Who could pass on that?!?! She had to work hard in 5th grade and she made it to college, so I will definitely send her one!
The bottom card is going to a teacher friend. I have worked with her for three years, and I don't think I have ever given her a card just because. This will be a first. I hope she enjoys.
Just a Reminder: There is Blog Candy

I selected this embossing folder because it was the first time that I bought one that I already owned. Ooops!  Please remember to leave your e-mail and blog address (if you have one). The winner will be announced Monday evening, Aug. 8th.

Question of the day: What crafting technique or fold haven't you tried before that you would like to?  I am going to try a tent card!
Be sure to visit Sherri now. She ALWAYS has amazing projects.

Challenges:
Cricut Cardz Challenge ~ Tutti Fruitti (top card)
Fantabulous Cricut ~ Let's Be Friends (bottom card)
Be sure to come back tomorrow for another "first".

Cre8tivegirl's "FIRST" Blogoversary Hop

Welcome!
I am glad you are joining us today for this amazing hop. Yvette is celebrating her first blogoversary and we are all making "first" projects in her honor.

I have created a card today, but what makes my card perfect for this hop is:
  • It is my first Tri-Fold Shutter card. Yeah for trying a new fold! Although it looks complicated, it is super easy to cut the base. The most time consuming part was layering the papers and adhering.
  • This card is for a teacher who has been transferred from 2nd grade. It will be her first year in 5th grade and at an intermediate level. I have been teaching 5th graders for 11 years, so I know she will love it!
  • This was my first time using this paper stack ~ DCWV High School. I bought it on clearance for $1.99 and thought it would come in handle one day. I love the patterns and colors. Since my son is a Senior this year (for the first time), I will be using it even more!
Other Materials:
red, cream, black, and silver card stock
buttons (red, green, and blue)
gold ribbon
Plantin SchoolBook ~ 1" letters
Locker Talk cartridge ~
First Day of School (p. 32) cut at 2 3/4"
Books (p. 47) ~ cut at 1 3/4"
Pencil (p.37) ~ 1 1/4"

Black, Pink, and Green

I have a few cards that I would like to share with you. I made these cards with K&Company (Amy Butler Lotus) paper that I purchased from Michaels for only $2.99. I LOVE great deals since I am very frugal, and this definitely was one. This paper is double sided, so I was able to use only one sheet plus a piece of pink cardstock I found in my scrap pile.

Floral Fantasy Cuttlebug folder

Materials:
K&Company paper ~ Amy Bulter Lotus
pink cardstock
Floral Fantasy Cuttlebug embossing folder
florals (black, pink, and green)
ribbon (green and dark gray)
pink gems
brads (pink and green)
Many Thanks stamp by Fiskars
Happy Birthday stamp by Inkadinkado
MS edge punch
foam strips

This evening I bought Kate's ABCs from Joanns while it was on sale and I was able to use my teacher discount to get another 15% off. I am looking forward to making some projects using this cartridge since I have seen  so many cute ones. I wish they would have had Camping Critters because I would have purchased that one too. I guess it will have to stay on my Wish List for now. What's on your wish list?

Take Care,
Georgiana
