Please Tell Me it isn't Over Yet!

This has been a great weekend and I am sad to know that it is coming to an end.  I have enjoyed my crafting time immensely and I am looking forward to coming home after school everyday and making more cards.

Here is the one for today. I am adding it to the 2 dozen that I have been asked to make. I have requested specific details, but while waiting I thought I would work on creating a variety of holiday cards.

Winter Wishes to You

Earlier today I hopped around the Christmas Card Blog Hop starting at the Crafty Card Gallery. What amazing cards were created and posted. If you haven't had the chance to browse, go check it out. You still have time, plus there is blog candy available. Yeah!

After looking at all (Yes, I went thru all of them and I think there must have been about 30 participants) the wonderful projects, I decided to open my new Jolly Holidays cartridge and make a card too. : )

Here are the pieces I started with. The printed paper is from Tags, Bags, and Boxes paper pad.

I have cut the pieces and traded some of the gems for black buttons.

I embossed the white paper with a snowflake folder.

My snowperson as assembled with his gift.

The final product is ready for display.

Black Friday Was a Success!

The sales and shopping actually started yesterday on Thanksgiving. I went to Michaels at 5pm since they had storage supplies on sale for 55% off. I wanted a container for my paper and I decided on just two separate pieces. Since it was my anniversary (17 years!), my hubby said, "Get Whatever" and then he helped me put the cubes together. Thank you honey!

This is in the corner next to my computer desk. It is perfect since it is out of the way.

Last night around 11:15pm, we went to Walmart since I wanted to get a Cricut Lite cartridge before they sold out. I already knew which one I wanted (Four Legged Friends). When we got there I saw the others. It sure is hard when you are standing with all of them on display in front of you and then to have to pick only one. My hubby knew I was having a difficult time deciding (It is like the cereal aisle...too many choices.). Since it was still my anniversary he said, "Okay" which means... I got two...Four Legged Friends and Jolly Holiday. Yeah!

This morning we headed out again to get some more deals for the family. Of course, I had to stop at Joanns at 6am and Michaels just after that. Well, I am glad we did! Joanns offered a free $5 gift card to the first 50 people. That was an unexpected surprise!  We each got one and my husband said it wasn't even that bad going! : ) I was able to get some embossing folders for 75% off, buttons were BOGO free, and the Nifty Fifty cartridge was on sale for $27.99 (but it was actually $17.99 because of the  gift cards). We saved the $10.00 and I agreed to put that cartridge away for Christmas.

Then we went to Michaels and I had to get the ribbon for 70% off. I got about 10 rolls. I picked up a paper cutter, a tool kit, and two ribbon racks that were all on sale. I was also able to use a 25% off coupon. That is another yeah!

What a great day for bargains! When I got home from shopping I had an e-mail requesting 2 dozen holiday cards. I am extremely excited and will be ready to start tomorrow. I definitely need to get some rest tonight before I start!

Oh, I need help with this also...what is a good price to charge for a large amount of cards? Do you charge for each card or by bulk? HELP! This is a first and I hope there will be more offers to come.

I sure hope you had a marvelous Thanksgiving and were able to find some amazing deals too. Please share any of your special finds! My friend, Yvette at The Little Things, got another Cricut Expression (a purple one). I wonder if she is going to be able to use it for the Snowy Winter Hop on December 4th or if she has to wait until Christmas. I'll be sure to ask her when she gets back from visiting her grandmother (Remember that amazing memory book she made for her?).

A Cozy Cabin in the Winter

Last night before I went to bed I had a burst of creative energy and laid out four different piles of papers along with some embellishments that I had planned to use for cards.  Here is what I woke up to.

After reading all the Black Friday ads this morning, I created one card before going to the Grandparent's house for Thanksgiving. I used the pile from the far left side.

 

• I used a snowflake embossing folder for the background.
• The cabin, trees, and moose were cut from the Camp Out cartridge. The cabin and moose were attached with foam squares to add dimension.
• The snowflakes were punched out using a Fiskar snowflake edge punch.
• Embellishments include: brown ribbon, brown buttons, and green embroidery floss.

I hope you had a great Thanksgiving and good luck if you go shopping in the morning. My husband and I are going out hoping to come home with a few good deals. The list is almost ready...it just needs to be checked twice....since I am only buying gifts for those that are being nice. : )

Peace

It has been an extremely peaceful day today since we decided not to go to Disney/Hollywood Studios to see the Osborne lights. A fellow teacher had mentioned it was the busiest traveling day of the year (which I confirmed on Google last night. Plus I found out this weekend is the busiest time of the year at Disney) and I knew my husband hated driving in traffic, so we decided to postpone the visit until next weekend. The million of lights are not going anywhere yet and it gave me time to create another card. : )

This card is going to be submitted into the Cricut Cardz Challenge #52 ~ Christmas themed with words only (no images).

• I used Joys of the Season to cut peace at 1 1/2" in red and white cardstock.
• Holly on Green paper is by Paper Pizazz/Hot Off the Press Inc.
• I added ribbon and 3 red gems (for the 3 holly berries).

P.S. What are some other good Christmas/Winter cartridges for the Cricut? I would love to know some of your favorites whether they are oldies or the new ones. I really am interested in purchasing another for variety. THANKS!

'Tis the Season

I decided to create another holiday card, but I went back to the traditional colors red and green. (Sometimes it is hard to step out of your comfort zone.)

• I used Joys of the Season to cut the Santa hat (p.47) and Doodlecharms (p.127) for the reindeer head.
• Red and White glitter
• Red and Silver ribbon 
• Lots of Extras: red and green buttons, cream and red craft thread, green wiggly eyes, and "Tis the Season sticker

I am entering this card into the following challenges:

• Really Reasonable Ribbon's Ramblings #12 ~ Christmas Theme w/ ribbon 

I am already enjoying the first day off. The weather is gorgeous and I am looking forward to turkey tomorrow (especially since I do not have to cook).  I have my list ready for Friday morning with hopes of getting a few of the good deals that I have seen advertised. I am not going out at 4am like a few people I know (my sister ~ Yikes!), but I am usually up and ready by 6am. I am hoping to go and get back before anyone else even gets up. Whatever your tradition may be...ENJOY!

Instead of Off the Wall, How About...Just Off!

Have you ever made a project and you just thought you could have done better? Well...this is mine. I am still wondering why did I even post? I like the fold of this card, so I know that is not the problem. I have layered all my papers and used embellishments which are all my favorites.

 

 Off the Wall Craftiness #34 selected these colors, so I thought why not try. The colors look fine together, so that is not the issue. The angels on the outside flap are precious, but it may be the snowflakes on the inside. They just do not make me feel like it is almost winter. It is 80 degrees here in Florida and the students are still wearing shorts.

 

Plus, the Studio18 stamp from Mary Engelbreit is terrible. I like what the stamp says "Let it Snow!", but it just doesn't print nicely. I definitely need guidance on using and choosing stamps (or ink pads). Any suggestions, please share!

I just realized why I posted...I had to reflect! (That goes back to being a teacher.) I needed to see the card and write about it to be able to think it all thru. Now I am glad I did. 

I am going to find another challenge and redeem myself.  There are so many other cards that I can make and I definitely have time with a long holiday weekend...and the husband is out with the boys for a few hours.  : )

What an Amazing Deal!

My daughter and I went shopping on Sunday afternoon and I had to share the deal of the day that I found at Michaels. I realize every store is different, but keep your eye open for other wonderful deals with Black Friday approaching.

I found this Martha Stewart Punch Around the Page set on clearance for $12.99 (regular price was $24.99) and I thought that was a good buy. When I went to the register I gave the cashier a 40% off coupon to be used for a pair of $1.00 scissors I picked up for my daughter (since she is always taking mine or the kitchen pair). Well, when I looked at the receipt in the car I saw that the coupon was applied to the punch. I received another $5.20 off. Yeah! I didn't know you could use a coupon on clearance items. This was the 2nd time it has happened. Hmmm? Is that normal?

The other fantastic deal I found was in the rear of the same store...Halloween products were 90% off. I picked up a stack of stickers/gems and the cashier had to look twice. It was less than $2.00 for my goodies. Each item was no more than 20 cents. For that price I can put them away and some I can use for other projects. There are stars, diamonds, and silver and black Bling swirls that do not even look like Halloween. How cool!

Tomorrow is the last day of school, then 5 days off. I am super excited. We may go to Disney World/Hollywood Studios on Wednesday to see the Osborne lights. It is a spectaular sight! Has anyone every seen them before? If so, what did you think?

It's Almost Turkey Day

I am looking forward to our Thanksgiving Break this year. We have 5 days off, which means turkey, shopping, and time to create cards.

I made my card early this morning while everyone was still sleeping. I didn't want to wake anyone, so I went Cricut-less. I had paper from Debbie Mumm and just cut the turkey/saying and layered them.

I am submitting my card at My Sheri Crafts Challenge #32 ~ Thanksgiving.

Off to see Harry Potter with the family today. Hmmm, I wonder if there are any challenges that have to do with the box office hit. If anyone knows, please share!

Style is Important!

What an exciting Saturday...I went shopping (I stocked up on cardstock since Joanns had it on sale for $1.99 a pack) and when I cam home I received this. I never knew it existed until now. How cool!

A Gobble Request

It is hard to believe that Thanksgiving is less than a week away and Christmas is right around the corner. I sure do love the holiday decorations and the smell of the cinammon pinecones when you go into the craft stores.

Well, my husband doesn't usually ask of too much except he always tells me to never spend money when I go out (sometimes it is hard to tell if he is serious or not). : ) Perhaps that is why I am a frugal crafter looking for sales, using my coupons, and searching for those great deals. I don't feel bad when I I do buy ALL my goodies. I think he has come to realize how much I love making my cards.

He did ask me to make his mother a card for Thanksgiving since we go there every year for dinner. My response...Of course, I can do that! : ) Plus, I knew there were a few challenges too that I could enter.

• I used a vanilla cardstock for the base and mounted with a kraft colored cardstock. 
• I used Animal Kingdom to cut the turkey at 3". His tail feathers were chalked with dark brown.
• The papers are from Me&My Big ideas ~ Copper Willow pad. I found the mat pad at Joanns in the clearance section and thought the colors were perfect for fall.
• The ribbon is from the Autumn Inspirations collection which I also purchased at Joanns while on sale for 50% off.
• The buttons came from a big bag by the Paper Studio that I bought for 50% off at Hobby Lobby and the embroidery floss was buy 3 get one free at Joanns.

Get Better

A wonderful teacher at our school who just had emergency surgery, was then hospitalized for a week, and is now home recovering is on the minds of many of us at school. I created this card to let her know we are thinking of her and hope she "Gets Better" soon.

• I used the Wild Card cartridge for the sentiment and layered flowers.
• The paper is Making Memories neutral pack which I found at Marshalls on clearance for $3.00. The colors are very soothing (and my favorites).
• Embellishments include: brown flower brads, brown satin ribbon, various buttons, and cream colored embroidery floss.

I am submitting this card into the Fantabulous Cricut Challenge #36: Achoo. The theme for this week is to create a project having something to do with being sick.

I sure hope our colleague recovers quickly and is able to return to school soon. We will all be thinking of her!

Scrapping Students

Christmas is Approaching

I showed my husband my card after making it and he said, "But it isn't even Thanksgiving yet. You're as bad as Wal-mart!" My thought...so many cards for so many friends and not enough time. If he only knew!

• I used K&Company Secret Santa pad and dark green and pink cardstock.
• Joys of the Season cartridge for the ornaments on the left
• pink ribbon for the bow
• 2 dark green buttons and pink embroidery floss
• foam squares for mounting 

The inside has a flap that will hold a gift card.

Winter Theme

I was able to make another card, so I am feeling quite pleased. This card is going to be entered at a new site I found today...Really Reasonable Ribbon's Ramblings. The challenge is to create a Winter Themed project that contains: blue, silver, white, and ribbon.

I used a new Cuttlebug embossing folder, Winter Homes, to create the centerpiece. The white and silver paper is from the Alphabet Stack (I have used it in the past to make thank you cards.) I used blue brads in each corner and white and silver ribbon to make the bow.

I am also entering this card into the Anything Goes Challenge Blog. The Week 24 challenge is... Emboss It. 

I hope you find time to create this weekend. I find it extremely relaxing making cards and I sure do feel like I am missing out when I have to delay a project.

Meow

Unfortunately I haven't been able to create too much in the last two weeks with the way the school schedule has been, but today I have made some time to see what posts I have missed with my fellow crafters and I wanted to find a challenge or two that I could enter.

I started at the beginning of my challenge column (far left side) and strolled thru a few to see what I could try.

I am an avid dog lover, but I thought I would do "C is for Cats" from the Alphabet Challenge Blog. I found the cat image on the Animal Kingdom cartridge p. 130. He is kind of cute when you layer all the pieces. Plus the wiggly eyes are definitely him.

I am hoping to be able to make another, so back to the challenge list.
